So Wednesday night there I was not doing much other than chilling out, when I gets this phone call. I had been looking forward to not doing much on the Friday, as I’d booked it off a while back, but Claire couldn’t get any extra tickets, so I told work I could be on call should they need it. Anyway I digress, It turned out that I could go to Claire’s graduation after her dad had pulled out at the last minute, and I was so glad/proud that I was next inline
Had to stay at Claires due to an early morning tram needed to get her gown and everything ready for the ceremony. I’d chosen to wear my suit, and yet still woke up about 7am thinking “SHIT!! I’ve left my fucking shoes at my house!!!!”
So an hour round trip and I was back, and luckily Claire had got her mum to iron my trousers and shirt so it was a quick change and then onto the tram. It wasn’t all plain sailoing, due to a very rich Lasagne we’d had the night before, my gut was bubbling away and I was getting more scared with every stop on the tram, till we finally made it outside the Nottingham Trent stop. The stewards were slowly but quite forcefully ushering the students away from their friends and family, but not before we’d managed to get a few photos of Claire outside the building and church across the way, and also had the professional photographers take her photo and also a rather nice copy of the 3 of us (Me, Claire and her mum) which I will post once I get a copy
Just got this through email and it amused me for a few minutes this morning (Very little sleep for the 3rd night running
)
Subject: Nice one, who says sporting gestures are a thing of the past?
The Nigerian goalkeeper has offered to refund the travel costs of all the disappointed UK fans who went to South Africa.
All he needs are your bank account details, password and mother’s maiden name.
Can’t be a scam surely?
I’d like to wish my Grandma a Happy 70th Birthday from Friday just gone. I have honestly not had chance to get a quick post up, but I suppose I can now blog about the party too
It’s been a surreal half a year with the family and everything. We seemed to drift through the years without seeing certain family members, and now the chat amongst us all is that we need to continue these sort of social events which is ace! Anything to get to see my Great Aunty Barbara hehe. Got a phone call not long after putting up the marquee at my Aunties house from my Grandma saying Caroline had told her everything looked great, and she was so happy that I could help given the dodgy little spell of weather we’ve been having.
Got there around half 3ish as directed and pulled up the same time as my Grandad and his sister, and we walked through to see the Birthday girl. Was nice to see my cousin Jemma too after her being unable to attend the last two weddings. The beer was soon flowing (quicker for my Great Uncle Rob than most tho
) and after we’d all had some bbq food, Rob began playing games. First throwing a ball at unsuspecitng people to catch, then he decided to up the level a little and wanted an egg. Ended up with a Lemon with the rules being “Drop it, you take a bite” This didn’t really bother Richard tho, who does quite enjoy Lemons as he told us on 3 or 4 occassions during the game.
So last Thursday I finally got to watch a film at the Cinema in 3D. I’ll admit that it gave me a massive headache for the first few minutes, but I really enojyed not only watching the new Shrek film, which I thought was awesome, but also thge general 3D experience. I thought I rocked the 3D glasses look quite well too
The best thing of all was going to the 20:45 showing which meant that all the kids had gone to bed and there were only really about 5 couples in their. One couple had two teenagers with them, but it was great. Next up is Toy Story 3. There seems to be a few films coming out which I can’t wait to see!! Toy Story 3, The Karate Kid, The A-Team and being a bit of a dance film geek I really can’t wait to watch Step Up 3D, having seen the trailer for it I was like WOW!
.. Would try and ride a 16ft Crocodile! Even when absolutley smashed on Jaegermeister and Red Bull I wouldn’t even dream of going anywhere near one of them fuckers let alone climbing into his enclosure and trying to ride him
A drunk man who climbed into a crocodile enclosure in Australia and attempted to ride a 5m (16ft) long crocodile has survived his encounter.
The crocodile, called Fatso, bit the 36-year-old man’s leg, tearing chunks of flesh from him as he straddled the reptile.
He received surgery to serious wounds to his leg and is recovering in hospital, police say.
He had been chucked out of a pub in the town of Broome for being too drunk.
The man, who was not named by the police, climbed over a fence and tried to sit on the 800kg (1,800lb) saltwater crocodile.
More on this crazy story from the BBC website
Its been a bit of a tiring weekend this weekend. Mainly due to the fact I was up till the early hours of Sat morning before headin goff to pick a rather drunk Claire up from town, but also cos even with the fan on it’s just been too bloody warm to sleep
Did a few firsts this past weekend too. Thursday afternoon I got a text saying Claire’s mum and Andy were popping round and as I’d told her I was gonna cook Spag Bol, would I mind cooking for the two of them too!! OMG It’s like the first time I’ve really had guests round to my house for more than a take-away like in the old days when we used to have lads nights on Pro-Evo and things
It seemed to go down well enough, and I’ve not heard reports of the 3 of them being ill Thursday night so I guess it was a success WOOHOO!!
Friday was some sort of day from hell! Me, Maddsy and Danny were rocking out in the van of death, doing what on paper looked like a few easy hire jobs around Derby. What should have been a simple 14 minute drive from the first job to the second covering just 7 miles turned into 2 hours of aimless driving with 1 very irate driver and a laughing Wiggy and Danny. Could we hell find our way into the park. At one point I even had Wendy on the phone as we drove round trying to find our entrance into the bloody park.
This bloke seems very happy at the news that Call of Duty Black-ops will have dedicated servers more than most
So there we have it. After last nights game we will have a New World Champion. New as in neither of the countries have ever won the World Cup before. It was a cagey game last night, but I thought the 2nd half was pretty decent. Looking forward to the final now on Sunday
I’d like to see the Dutch win it though, to help Sneijder win another trophy, as he’s been bloody awesome all season. It was abattle of the 2 contrasting styles which I thought Spain came out of slightly better. They never really gave much room for the German style of lightning counter attacks, and were quickly closed down once a German got control of the ball, meaning they were playing more long balls than in the 2 demolitions of England and Argentina. They’d certainly done their homework the Spanish. Also it was a sort of freaky leap from Puyol, given after the match he stood next to Per Mertesacker and the top of his head didn’t even come up to the German defenders shoulders
Quite amusing
I think next pay day is gonna be a good one. Never mind the starter motor for my car, I think I’m gonna be buying this. Season 6 of NCIS!! Since they have been showing it on FIVE on Wednesday nights, I tended to watch the Champions League games, thus missing most of the season. Before you say Claire, I know you’ve seen the last episode in Season 7 and I’m very happy for you (I’ve seen it too tho haha) Can’t wait to kick back during a coming weekend and watching the whole of season 6. Also it helps complete my current NCIS collection which so far spans across the other 5 seasons
