Back to the gym

So last night was the first time in the gym for about a month, given my illness and general trying to get out of it.  I’ve still had a good workout having shifted a shit load of 25kg base weights at work for hire jobs, with the hardest part not walking with them, but having to hoist them onto the tailgate of the warrior, which does your back no good at all.  So to ease myself in we did a gentle back session, which I’m not feeling too bad after.  Bit sore in parts, but a good session non the less.  I’ve lost 2lbs since I last went to the gym, and according to the Body Fat Indexing machine, I’ve gone down from about 14.1% to 13.5% BONUS!!  I’m still miles away from reaching John’s BFI which is down to 9.5% at the moment, and he’s happy with that. Compare that low BFI with the BMI (Body Mass Index) and according to the Wii Fit, I’m Obese hahahaha!

I’m now booked into the doctors for Friday afternoon, which I know will mean I get to see the doc about Friday evening.  The more people I seem to talk to regarding my symptoms, and the fact that it’s taking me 3 or 4 days to recover after every game of football, the more they seem to think it could have been Swine Flu! Best to go and get it checked out.  That and the fact that my one good ear may well need syringing, and I’ve a few other ailments I could do with getting checked out, like the clicking in my knees! Here’s to as clean a bill of health as I can get.

Mansfield Town played against Forest Green Rovers in the FA Cup last night, and lost to a last minute goal, with the game seemingly heading for Extra Time.  Seems Mansfield dominated for most of the game, and may count themselves a little unlucky.  Anyway I was surfing the net, with not much else on, so I started looking into when Rainworth Miners Welfare went to play in their biggest game ever, playing under the old Twin Towers, and having atleast 10,000 of the 12,000 in attendance cheering them on.  Having resided in Rainworth for many years, and having played for their reserves with Ryan and some others back at the start of the decade, I knew a bit about the history of that run, so I looked into it some more.  The attendance for their Semi-Final game still is a record for any game played outside the final, with 5,071 people packed into the Kirklington Road stadium to watch Rainworth win.  I’ve found a page on the RMW FC page highlighting that fantastic FA Vase cup run of 1982. That then got me looking at one of my first ever memories of watching football live.  It was the 1987 Freight Rover Trophy final @ Wembley when they drew 1-1 with Bristol City and beat them 5-4 on penalties.  I’ll never forget the parade a few days later, watching as thousands of people lined the streets to celebrate the lads on a great win.   Ahhh the memories :)

Woo. Clicking knees = bad news. Major op. Months on the sidelines. Jumpers for keeping warm, not for goalposts.

I think my first visit to Field Mill must have been in about 1978/9 – something like that – probably with us in the old Third Division. I have a horrible feeling we lost 2-1.

I’m usually pretty accurate on these things.

Don’t do this to me Mr 6k! I hate visiting the doctors for that exact reason! Them turning round and saying sorry Mr White we feel you’re gonna have to stop playing football!! Altho my health is more important I suppose
