Though you do follow some of the rules for good sleep hygiene, there are still several issues you need to work on before attaining the ultimate sleep regime.
Here are some tools and tactics that will help you drift off to dreamland for the right number of hours:
- Keep a sleep journal (find out how many hours you need to sleep per night to feel well rested in the morning) and arrange your schedule accordingly.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, heavy food, and smoking in the hours before going to bed.
- Try to unwind earlier in the evening. Allow yourself to be totally relaxed when your head hits the pillow.
- Make a real effort to go to bed at approximately the same time every night.
