Finally out of the bottom 3!

It’s been along time in coming to be honest! Specially for the long suffering Newcastle fans, but last nights result, a 2-1 win over West Brom, is HOPEFULLY the change in direction the club needs, and now we’re jumped out of the bottom 3 and into 15th (ahead of a full Premier League program tonight mind) We can hopefully start to pick up some results starting with Aston Villa @ home on Monday night (Yet another game live on the telly

Anyway the team seemed to want it more than the day we’d rather forget, and I think the inclusion of Jonas Gutierrez and Joey Barton into the midfield added some pace that we lack when we play with Butt and Geremi, and we had 2 good chances in the first few minutes, before Shola won us a penalty, which Joey Barton stepped up and cooly slotted into the goal, despite Carson’s best attempts at trying to put him off :)

We were still playing some nice stuff and Jonas seemed to be at the heart of it, and recently Duff seems like a man transformed (apart from Saturday that is)  Habib got a good cross over near half-time and Oba had a pretty simple finish with his head, altho the defender may wish he’s actually stood up as he could have got more of a touch on it

Second half you could sense the crowd and players were nervy, and West Brom had a hell of a lot of possession, but only got one goal back for it, and in the end you could sense the relief upon the final whistle!  Now I know quite a few people who follow the Toon didn’t wanna see Joey Barton in a Newcastle shirt again given his previous record, but a lot of the fans I chat to in one particular thread on a forum all seem to think that he owes us fans, and after his kissing of the badge to rile the Scumderland fans at the weekend, he needs to get his head down and concentrate on his football.  At the end of the day Nicky Butt is almost too slow, and I’m hoping a newlook midfield of Jonas - Guthrie - Barton N’Zogbia/Duff can help supply Owen/Viduka/Martins or who ever may play up top, and help us finish in a respectable position.

It was a shocking penalty decision. But not really any worse than the Beye one the week before.

Does that even everything out now then?

Come on!! I’ll be the first to admit Shola played for it, specially as his touch was too heavy, but you can’t deny there was contact. It wasn’t in the same breath as Robinho flinging himself to the floor as if he’d been shot  how did your lot do this weekend mate?

Scraped a 1-0 win against Preston, before scraping a 0-0 away at Bristol City. It’s big name after big name for us Championship teams, you see?

Newcastle are my “second team”, as I was at Uni there and lived and worked at the Strawberry pub for 3 years - and you can’t get much closer to St James’ than that…

I’ve always wanted to go in, but living in the midlands, I never give myself enough time when I go to any games. Plus it’s always RAMMED with Geordies before the game! I’ll admit that I have a soft spot for Sheff Utd! Would love to see them back in the Premier League mate. Remember them winning me quite a bit of money with the play-off games against Forest the other year ;)
