So there were contrasting fortunes for 2 teams last night. I was at the Champions League Semi-Final between Manchester United and Barcelona, and as soon as the final whistle went in that game, and Old Trafford became more of a rock venue than the traditional Library
There was disappointment for Mansfield Town, who have lost their fight against relegation, and their 77 year stay in the Football League is no more
Anywho.. More about that later.
Got to the gym monday, and had a great session, and the car was working ok and everything, and we had a great chest session as per usual on mondays. Nipped into Tesco on the way home, and treated mself to the Transporter box set! I’ve seen Transporter 2 loads of times, but never actually seen the first one, so for 7 quid it wasn’t all that bad
On the way home, the car started to make a sort of rattling noise, and sounded more and more like a scoobie!!
Specially if I was doing low revs in a high gear, and occasionally there was a lag of about a second from me putting my foot down, and the engine responding. Seems that Honda Integra’s were not built to be driven as submarines
Anyone with any ideas, get in touch
Spent the rest of the night watching The Transporter, and Bagi nipped by to pick some stuff up I had sorted out for him.
Got to work, and checked the number I had for Scott, and asked him wether he had a spare few minutes just to check the car over for me, but he was busy all day, so that meant rather than try and drive up to Manchester, only for the car to seize up or something, Maddsy would have to drive (for once!!!!
) It’s always great leaving work early, specially for a game of football of this magnitude
Even tho we left at 3, cos Maddsy wanted to be in the pub as early as possible, we ended up faffing about, picking the kids up, doing a bit of shopping for Stevie and things
Was bout 4ish by the time we set off. Text Ian from Hill Crescent FC to see where he was, and if he was gonna meet me and Maddsy in the pub, but he was running late. Got parked up in the usual car park, and to say we were there same time as last time, the car-park was rammed already. Queued up for a cash machine, and having fought a few thousand Mancs stood outside the row of shops, It told me there was a bloody machine error!! Grrrrr. Maddsy led me down to the cash machine outside the ground, and I was stood in the queue for a good 20 minutes before I could get any money out, and in that time, Maddsy had got bored, and gone on to his seat above the tunnel.
Got into the ground bout 20 past 7 after a few texts to my dad, who said the ground seemed to be filling up just nicely. Got myself a program, Bovril and Hot Dog, for the grand total of 7 of our English Pounds, and then made my way to my seat. This lad from Notts was sat next to me, and asked if I wanted to move over one seat, cos it was someone he knew or something and I would have been sat between them. Wasn’t a sell-out as there were a few seats near me that were empty, altho one or two people managed to get in bout 20 minutes into the game!! There were 2 empty seats in front of me, altho they were filled by two blokes who I could tell had been in the boozer before the game! They wreaked of beer, and when the goal went in, the bloke in front of me jumped on his seat, smashed it, and put his foot through the seat in front of him! *see pictures when uploaded tomorrow
* The atmosphere inside the ground was immense, and it was a pleasure to be part of it! Yes I’ll agree I was jumping up and down and singing and dancing Maddsy, but if i’d have gone to watch the Chelsea vs Liverpool game tonight, I’d prob have been doing the same! Adapting to ones surroundings is a must when you dont support either of the teams you’re going to watch
We hadn’t been in the car all that long (once we’d taken 25 minutes to do 2 miles) and the rain pissed it down! So glad I wasn’t in my motor on the way home, and listening to Five Live, we learnt the fate of the Stags
Got home bout Midnight, and found myself watching The Recruit for a bit, before finially admitting defeat and heading up to bed ![]()
