At home with the Mancs..

Work was dead Friday. Karl had some bad news, so went home (not looking himself at all) and by 3 o’clock there were very few of us left in the building at all! By 5 me and Crit had had enough, and decided to bugger off home, as there was no point sitting around doing nothing for another half an hour. So on the way home I bought myself a good few bottles of beer, and decided to make a night of it in front of the telly, waiting for the highlight of the nights telly…. REBUS! I love programs like this and Taggart

Was left signed into MSN throughout the night, and whilst sat on the settee, noticed a someone trying to talk to me. Turned out to be Nemma, so had a chat with her, and we seemed to have the same idea! We were just waiting for Rebus to start. Only problem being I was that knackered that I found myself thinking about watching it in bed… Bad idea! I watched the first half hour, then turned it off! So Nemma… What happened in the end? ha ha

Found myself awake at 7:30 saturday morning, still feeling knackered, so jumped into a nice hot bath, and listened to Radio One for a bit, before deciding to get ready, and check and double check that I had the tickets in my wallet, and that my wallet was in my back pocket safe as always. After a bit of a play with the Sat-Nav, putting in the postcode for the Old Trafford Cricket ground, which according to Mr Maddox, was the best and safest place to park, and cost £6 for the day. Also thought it was a good idea to put Phil and Helens address in, as the last time i’d been over that was was New Years Eve, so thought i’d better put it in rather than getting lost. I was like a little kid waiting for christmas, watching the clock.

Got to Phil and Helens in good time, and the first thing Phil told me was that we were “Going to Manchester to look at a car” Nipped into Macdonalds on our way for some breakfast, and It took about 10 minutes for them to sort it out *rollseyes* but wasn’t long before we were on our way. For some stupid reason I took a wrong turn up the M18  And tried to blame it on Phil. God knows why I thought it’d be a good idea, but I did :?

Wasnt long and we were back on the M1 heading north. Before we knew it we were on the edge of the Peak District, and then there was “Nothing”. Phil then decided it’d be a good idea to document our trip with random photos of “Nothing”

Nothing… and a wall!!

The Lorry we’d end up following for 15 miles.. More scenery

Phil seemed to take great pleasure in telling Helen that we’d been following this lorry for miles, surrounded by bugger all, but he’s seen a little river that turned into a little reservoir  Wasn’t long before we reached civilisation again, and annoyed one or two motorists by taking the wrong lane, then wanting to cut them up ha ha! Managed to find the Old Trafford cricket ground easily enough, and Phil paid for the parking, and had a wander down past the Kelloggs building, and started to follow the small crowd that was heading down this one street.

Cricket Ground… Kelloggs building

Once heading down the street, you could just see the side of one of the stands, and it does look quite majestic if i’m honest. It’s a bit like St Jame’s Park where you walk round a corner, and it’s there in your face  After ringing Maddsy to find out where the nearest cash machine was, he directed us to one that was about 10 yards away from where we were ha ha! Only to find it charged us £1.50  After that we went into the Infamous Trafford pub. Rather than get asked for ID, we got asked for our match day tickets, and I took pleasure in being Mr Taylor for the afternoon  (slightly more believable than me trying to be Mr Maddox :ROFL) Had a pint in there, and were amazed at the Foster quick pour system they had! It was pouring pints in about 5 seconds. Wasn’t the nicest beer we’d ever had tho. At this point we went over to the Man Utd megastore, where I conned Maddsy and Phil into thinking I was gonna buy a Man Utd shirt ha ha ha! Even if i’d contemplated it £57 for a shirt with Ronaldo on did not make good sense. Even with the 10/15 % I could have gotten off with the season ticket!!

Few pics of the East Stand

After a cheeseburger, we decided to make our way to our seats. After being frisked by two skinny-ass “security” men, we got in after “wafting” the season tickets at the scanner. Found our seats easily enough, and took time to admire the view in front of us!

After a taking in the quality of the stadium I went to get a coke, and was served by what I consider the most eager macdonalds worker ever! OK he dont work for Macdonalds, but he seemed like a right eager beaver! Wasn’t long before the teams started to come out for their warm-ups and we both wanted to see Ronaldo / Rooney / Tevez doing their own little warm-ups with the ball. Whilst warming up the other goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer smashed one over the bar, that hit this bloke straight in the knackers. He really wasnt expecting to come through the tunnel type thing into the stadium to be met by a flying football

One thing that bamboozled both me and Phil was where the hell the sprinklers come from! Originally we thought they can from these lines across the pitch that looked like pipelines, hidden under the grass and top soil, but they didn’t! So if anyone can help, answers in a comment please ha ha. The game was amazing, and I think the Boro fans helped make the atmosphere. They never stopped singing all game, and seemed to annoy some of the Man Utd “locals” by singing “We support our local team” OUCH!! Some good goals were scored, and I’m impressed with the football I saw.

Got out the ground on the final whistle, and made our way back to the car. Looking at the sort of queue we would have to battle, we decided to have another cheeseburger, and sat in the car, whilst Phil ate his packed lunch Helen made him :D Took us the best part of an hour to venture anywhere tbh. And before we knew it, it was pitch black, and we were crossing through the Peak District again. Phil was visibily bored, and started taking random photos of this and that ha ha.

Nice Porka pulled up alongside us… One of Phils attempts at getting a photo of the Moon :?

Managed to get home about 8ish and spoke to Maddsy, who was still in a delightful mood, as Jessica had come 3rd in the National Dancing competition she was in up in Blackpool so CONGRATULATIONS JESSICA :D Then after that I chilled with a few beers, watching Click on Sky Premier, followed by Match of the Day. Turns out to have been a rather Shite day to be a Geordie yet again! What on paper should have been atleast a point if not 3 against a struggling Reading side, turned out to be a defeat :( Better news for the Stags! Who are nor undefeated in 3 games, and are off the bottom of the league! Made sweeter by the fact Lincoln are now joint bottom

Woke up earlyish sunday morning, made worse by the fact I had an hour less sleep!! Grrrr Sat on the settee chilling, and also messing about on the internet and that, adding a few more friends on facebook sort of thing. Was gonna go over to my mum and dads for dinner, but as she didnt reply to my text sat night, I decided against it, so wandered over to the shop and got myself some Milk, Bread and a few other essentials, and sat down and had a really lazy day. Which included watching the Bolton vs Villa game, and the first half of the Liverpool vs Arsenal game.  Didnt watch the second half, cos I was too excited about watching the NFL from Wembley, between Miami Dolphins and New York Giants.  Altho I was not impressed with the state they left the hallowed Wembley turf in   I have always liked American Football, but the one thing that annoys me is the way it takes about 3 hours to play a game of 60 minutes

Once New York had won 13-10 I put Top Gear on, and couldnt help but chuckle at some of the stuff they were doing,  Particually Jeremy Clarkson driving round the BBC Studio.

Now at work, and Geoffrey is getting annoyed, because Zoe is downstairs with Carol, learning how our marquees work, and it wasn’t till I mentioned that I’d spoken to Maddsy this morning, and it was with his blessing that its happening, that he suddenly changed his attitude, and said “Oh right, well aslong as Craig is aware whats going on”

I love snake pass (Im presuming thats the peak districty bit you went over? very twisty road with a huge res at the side?) It reminds me of coming home from Manchester when I was living up there. Its quite dangerous though, loads of accidents from people thinking they can come round it too fast
