We’re not having here! Whilst it’s 40 odd degrees over in Bahrain, and roughly 39 degrees over in Paphos… We’ve had a slight downpour!

Chesterfield earlier on thanks to Lizzie :D Who got stuck in traffic on her way back from Sheffield

I think the rain ties in perfectly with the start of Wimbledon! As it always rains during the two weeks of tennis, so much so, that they normally coax Cliff Richard out of retirement so he can entertain the masses on Centre Court with a few classics

Me personally… I love a bit of rain hehehe

Mr Kirk how come we were never involved in anything like this at Jo Whit :?

Rainworth-based, Joseph Whitaker School, is set to take pole position on the grid when it competes against over 40 East Midlands Schools at the national Formula Schools competition on Silverstone race track tomorrow (Thursday).
The pre-judging event, held recently at Quarrydale School, Sutton, saw 14 schools compete to gain marks towards the Silverstone race day.

Marks were awarded against a number of categories including the engineering of their scale model race car and how well the pupils had worked together as a team.

Joseph Whitaker School scored 77 per cent placing them in the top two schools in the region.

Paul Gray, technology teacher and head of the project at Joseph Whitaker School said: “The marks gained were a huge improvement on last year and considering the pupils were much younger than the previous year, with an average age of 14, we were delighted with the mark gained.

“I think part of the extra effort put in by the pupils was down to their involvement with MEIRG, they invited us to attend the Autosports Show with them this year and it allowed the pupils access to top engineers and motorsport professionals who advised them on the latest composite materials as well as how and where to source parts for their race car.

“In fact, many of the top names in remote control racing have been involved with the team since the Show.”

At Silverstone all the pupils take part in two qualifying heats and if they get through, two final events.

The points gained at race day, combined with the points awarded at the pre-qualifying event go on to decide the overall winning school.

Chris Wilson, from MEIRG who sponsored Joseph Whitaker School, added; “It’s a delight to see the children take the event so seriously and act so professionally.

“They had to write and deliver a presentation on how they designed their car, right through to how they got the sponsorship.

“They did well to impress the judges. We wish them luck at Silverstone and look forward to seeing them perform on the day.”

MEIRG is a project which aims to retrain, retain and redeploy the East Midlands engineering workforce as well as encourage young people into the sector.

Kids Go Swimming!

So saturday night, typically, Maddsy rung me, and asked if I fancied going over to the club in Sutton, and having a bit of a night out, but typically, I’d had a few cans of beer, not expecting to go anywhere, and was looking forward to the Ricky Hatton fight! Then as I was on the phone to Maddsy, our Lew was trying to get in touch! Turns out he wanted a lift to Chesterfield bout 8 sunday morning  So he can sort part of this job out.

The Hatton fight didnt last too long! He was up on points in the opening 2 rounds, and then in the 4th caught the youth with an amazing body-shot! And became the first person to floor his opponent in 17 years or something they said on the telly!

So got up sunday morning and took our lew to Chesterfield to do this job, and then went on the net, and sent a few emails over to Bahrain for a general chit chat :D Went over to my mums for dinner, and chilled out there for a bit watching random TV before heading over to Jeffs to check out his new 40″ plasma TV for his bedroom, which he’s wired upto his Rockit8 studio speakers and xbox and that! Quite a good little gaming pad he’s got there now hahaha

Whilst over at Jeffs he got his mate Mark trying to chat to him on Xbox live! But he ignored it, cos we were in the middle of a race on Forza 2! Then bout 2 minutes later, he tried ringing Jeff on his mobile, but he ignored it, cos again we were racing! Then Jeffs mum comes into his room and says Mark is on the house phone!! wtf!! So jeff rings him, and gets an earfull! “You said you were gonna race me online in 20 minutes! This is an hour ago!!” so Jeff mumbled something about yeah i’ll race you in a minute, then we buggered off to the pub!! Via a swimming pool in Ravenshead! There were kids swimming in this puddle in the middle of the road with wetsuits on  We were on our way to the pub, when Jeff noticed his mate Mark behind us! He’d phoned Jeffs mum again, and she said we’d gone to the pub! I think he followed us! *cough* STALKER *cough*

Had a game of pool and a few bevvies in the pub, then headed off home, where I chilled watching the CSI movie directed by Quinten Tarrantino! Not seen it for ages! Got chatting to Jeff and Lizzie, who’d had an action packed weekend herself by the sounds of it  And ordered in some chinese, and chilled watching old Top Gear on UKGT2 :D

So this time last year, all was well, and we had a bit of a problem with moths! No idea where they came from, and I was always on alert during the summer to make sure there were non in the bedroom or anything before she would go to sleep  Well they have returned this year, but rather than kill the blighters, I just tend to leave the window partially open, and it appears to be working! They tend to fly out the window for some reason :D

Something i thought I’d share with the world HAHAHA

Weekend Calling…
icon1 Wiggy | icon2 Daily Blogs | icon4 06 23rd, 2007| icon3No Comments »

Friday was pretty quiet at work! Atom was at the hospital, Mark was in Scotland for the Royal Highland Show and Robert was trying to get admission into the Goodwood Festival of Speed! Add onto the fact Maddsy kepty doing his usual dissapearing act  It ended up being just me and Geoffrey upstairs! And you can only take so much, so I kept going to chat to Wendy or something hehehe

Friday night was a bit of a film night along with a bit of Forza Action! Got back from work slightly early, cos Geoffrey was in a good mood, and said as everyone else had gone, and he’d got his friday afternoon order, I may as well go too! So got home and ordered a dominos pizza, nipped to the shop for some beers, and then chilled out and watched Goal 2! Was quite a good film! After that got chatting to Emzi and Lizzie a bit, and Emzi’s fella told me to get online and he’ll race me on Forza! I was in a good mood, and gave him one of the scoobies I’d won, and then raced him in my other! He decided to use the quickest Le Mans car he could find on the game, and it was slightly unfair race!  For some reason he kept quiting the game, and then when I decided to match his car, he got mardy on, and left the game lol!

I was gonna stay on Forza, but got bored really really quickly, so decided to watch some random films on Sky Movies, untill 10, when Smackdown came on lol! Hadnt planned on watching it, but its entertaining  specially since the explosion that “killed” vince mcmahon. Had a really random txt from Troy who’s in Ayia Napa with stacey! It went along the lines

Troy.. “Wiggy I have found your identical brother on ayia napa!!”

Wiggy.. “Pics?”

Troy.. “I can’t cos he’s been in sun that long he’s glowing red.  He loves it”

HAHAHA How random! Hope troy does get a pic! Would be interesting seeing how I look “Lobster Red” before I go visit Barrels

Was that tired tho, i ended up heading to bed before it had finished, but then spent an hour or two trying to sleep, before putting the telly on to watch the random early morning crap that comes on after midnight on terrestrial telly hehehe! Fell asleep with the telly on for once!!

Set my alarm early enough sat morning, so I could get over to Rainworth in good time to go pick my sister up, and take her to work. She’s currently having her kitchen re-done, and so Mike had to stay at home waiting for the plasterer and that. After taking her to work, and knowing I had to go back about 2 and a half hours later, I decided on coming back to my house, or to my mums, and parked up out side the Gallagher residence, and walked down into the town centre.  Had a great chat with Pam about alsorts, and then she started to get busy, so I buggered off and did a bit of shopping! Which included Bad Boys 1 & 2 on DVD for £8, and a 2gb MP3 player for £50, then headed over to get my sister!

Dropped her off home, and went over to my mums, hoping that Owen would be there! As it’d been about a month since I’d last seen him, and he came over later in the afternoon, so had a bit of a play with his bob the builder toys and that!  Laughed at our stef, who fell over last night (drunk we think) and has grazed all his arm, and face, yet he still claims he’s prettier than me :? Crazy lad!

Tonight i’m hoping that I can stay awake long enough to watch the Ricky Hatton fight thats on at about 2 in the morning! Thats not looking too likely the way I feel at the moment, but who knows :D Just arranged to go Ranger tomorrow with my good friend Rob (a.k.a. Jeff) before our adventure next weekend hehehe!

So apart from getting wet trying to sort Marks Volvo out, Maddsy was in a mad rush yesterday trying to get the factory and everywhere looking atleast respectable, due to the impending visit of John The Dutch Guy!! Was a busyish day, but managed to get everything sorted and that! Managed to sneak out of work at 5:30, even tho Maddsy said he wanted me to stay behind for a bit and chat to John about pricing the Parasols and things hehehe!

Got home half expecting to watch Goal 2, and a few other films hehehe, when Maddsy phoned me and asked if i’d had anything for my tea or anything, cos he could do with a hand entertaining John, and they were gonna head to Andwhynots for some food and a drink or two! Also would be ideal, so I can learn how to price the Parasols, and also have a quick chat to him about how they print things, and it turns out it’s pretty much similar to how we do our marquees! So headed down to Portland Hall Hotel to meet Maddsy and John, and have a quick beer whilst chatting bout the Parasols and things, and I noticed that the bloke who nows runs Portland Hall Hotel just so happens to be the same bloke that was running the Bird in Hand pub in Blidworth many many years ago, when I used to go in. (from the age of 18 honest hehehe)

Had a chat, and Amsterdam invariably got mentioned time after time  due to the fact that the framework for the Parasols would have to be collected, and the factory is only half an hour from Amsterdam hahaha! Headed down to Andwhynots and had a few “small beers” whilst tucking into some food and chatting bout things, and John phoned one of his agents when we got chatting bout Bratislava, and he suggested we go to this Italian restaurant thats in the main square called Paparazzi! So think thats how we’re gonna end the weekend! Hungover as hell in this Italian hehehe

Was a good night, and was having catch up chats with Emzi and Lizzie, then got home and watched telly with a beer!

So far this morning, Robert has phoned Maddsy, saying he got to the Goodwood Festival of Speed ticket-less, and they wouldnt let him in! Advanced tickets only HAHAHA! That made my morning. So Maddsy had to make a few calls, and see if any exhibitors with our marquees could help smuggle him in! Also had a nice little cloth delivery too, to which Maddsy didnt appear at work till after it was unloaded
