Annoyance at Mid-Season Finales

I’ve never been a fan of these mid-season breaks which seem popular in American TV Shows! I’d much rather watch the whole season the whole way through, as my memory just aint what it used to be when I was younger, so now I’m gonna have to get the first half of the season of Flashforward ready for when ever they decide to show the 2nd half of the season.  More than likely Jan or Feb if Lost was anything to go by. It was the same with Prison Break too.  Thats one of the main reasons I lost interest in Lost, that and the fact it really spun me out, with polar bears in the middle of the jungle :?

What was gonna be a busyish weekend turned into a drab relaxed one.  Was due to head out into Notts, but in a way I was gladBagi didn’t get in touch, as it saves me a bit of money for Xmas, and Sunday night I was due to take John and Carolyn to Watsi’s wedding, but with John being bed-ridden with what sounds like what I had a few weeks ago, I decided to stay in.  I was whacked after playing football on a pitch where sometimes the ball would zip off the puddles that had gathered and other times it’d stick in the puddle, and you’d carry on running thinking “What the hell”  It was great for attempting slide tackles, and it’s safe to say after a 10m slide tackle (I just seemed to keep going and going) I was wet through, and wearing a white kit wasn’t the best of ideas

Another win for the Toon, and 2 rare headed goals from MARLON! Still don’t rate him as much as Nile Ranger, and the sooner Nile gets his first goal the better.  Altho if Marlon does go on a run I won’t hold it against him as long as we keep winning and keep clean sheets.  5 wins from 5 and another clean sheet in the process moved us 8 points clear of Leicester in 3rd and keeps us 2 points above West Brom.  I’d feel more confident if West Brom started dropping a few points    So the draw for the 3rd round of the FA CUP was made yesterday.  The one day every team stops what they’re doing and focuses on the TV screen, and the lower league teams hoping for that magical away trip to Old Trafford.  Luckily we’ve managed to avoid that headache, but instead we’ve drawn a tie that will have most of our fans travelling on a roughly 830 mile round trip to Plymouth on the south coast.  I’m very tempted to jump on a train and get a ticket for 3rd round day.  See what happens for xmas, and if I get any money :D

Time flies

It doesn’t seem all that long ago that our Owen was born (my nephew).  Here he is below in his first school photo aged 5!! He looks so adoreable here, and he’s never been any trouble when at my mum and dads, apart from keeping them awake at night    So very proud of him.  I’ve also got another picture I may try and get uploaded that he did for me.

He’s got one thing going for him… he don’t look like me HAHAHA!!

Looking back at the past

I was looking through some old papers and photos I’d had shoved away in a box in the house, and was cherishing some of the memories and things, and I came across an old football programme.  It was from the Minor Cup Final in 2007 when my team at the time Sutton RS beat Team Talbot 1-0 in a very tense and entertaining final.  I suppose throughout my footballing life I’ve been lucky to play with some quality players who have helped propel teams I’ve played for to cup finals and league wins.  That was back in the day when  I was fit, and could run    Looking back at the programme below, we did have quite a good side judging by our goal-difference after only 17 games  Safe to say we won the league too that season.  I must find the other programme from when Kirkby Autocentre played at Notts County’s Meadow Lane in the final of the Notts FA Minor County Cup.  It highlights the last goal I scored in mens football too  A penalty away at Southwell Amateurs

Don’t worry about the squad page, I was right-back the whole game ;) If you click on the images it’ll open them up in my gallery bigger.

Yesterday I went on a mini adventure which took me from work around 2:15pm and into Coventry of all places! We were there for all of 30/45 minutes before we set off on the 1 hour 30 minute journey home.  The joys of taking down marquees out on hire    Got back just in time for the Man Utd game, which for some reason really cheered me up.  Here’s hoping Wolfsburg can beat them in Germany, then Man Utd end up playing Real Madrid in the next round.  Fate is a wonderful thing!

Brief fasting over

I felt both ends of the spectrum yesterday.  By dinner time my cravings for food/coffee had reached fever point, and I was so close to just crawling round on the floor with hunger pains, not helped by my evil colleagues on about bacon, sausage and egg cobs for dinner, or Crit eating a packet of bloody quavers about 3 yards away from me.  Once I’d been and had the blood tests done, I then felt the other end of the spectrum  I ate and ate until I could fit nothing else into that stomach of mine, and I felt sick from over eating.  200g of Coconut Mushrooms can’t have helped along with a 500ml bottle of lucozade.  As you can imagine, I was then wired for the afternoon, and Wendy even commented on my almost manic look/posture during the afternoon haha! If anything I was just happy that my fasting was over and done with.

Whilst doing my blog rounds I came across this great piece of work done in flash.  It caught my eye on Comedy Plus, a site that normally gets a good chuckle out of me with their jokes.  Anyway here is a link to the Animator vs Animation page.  Enjoy.  I would love to continue the very brief lessons I had in Flash a few years ago at work (when John seemed to want a Flash website building)

Back to the top we go

I’m going insane here this morning! No coffee or food. I’m hungry and to top it all off i’ve not slept well these last two nights again :(   I’m soo tempted to chew my arm off right now, OR take Domino’s up on their offer of Two for Tuesday.  Pre-order it shortly, and get 2 large pizza’s delivered to work, so I can pig out all afternoon, and then have some left for my tea    Be glad when it’s all over and I can look forward to getting back to full health and being able to run for more than 5 minutes without feeling like my legs are made of stone or something!

Started a campaign on Modern Warfare again last night, with the intention of completing it on veteran mode.  I’ve got about 75% of the way on Modern Warfare 1, before giving in, and about 35% through World at War both on veteran level, before throwing the controller onto the settee and turning the air blue, before turning the xbox off  See how far I can get on this one before giving up.

The Geordies aint at our flowing best right now, but we’ll definitely take 3 points away from fortress Deepdale with another clean sheet to boot.  Turns out we’ve the meanest defence in the Championship, but every time a team attacks us and I’m watching I get nervous as hell.  Something from the Keegan days, when they’d score, then we’d go and score and games were finishing 4-3.  I’m more than happy with 1-0′s at the moment (till we play Derby or Forest again, then I’ll be wanting blood and goals goal goals)  Kevin Nolan has found his goal scoring boots in the Championship, but it’s a bit of a worry that if he’s out then we’ll struggle to find goals.  I’m really wanting Nile Ranger to get his first goal in the first team, and think once he gets it he can go on a bit of a hot streak.  Just not quite happening for him, given Marlon with the weird head is preferred to play up top with Andy Carroll

How much for a prescription!

It seems Dave “The Part-time striker, full time COD geek” has taken offence to what I’ve been saying about him on here    He’s also thrown his dummy t regarding my blatent copying and pasting of his match reports, and is claiming to cop-write his match reports :( Oh well! It’s safe to say that I have been busy on Call of Duty having spent most of my saturday online playing “Domination” Just the sound of the game is appealing to my darker side HAHA!

Been to pick up my prescription this lunch-time, and I knew you had to pay for them but wasn’t quite ready for £7.20!! What makes it better is the alchemist/drug wizard bloke at the pharmacist , was out to lunch and wouldn’t be back till 1pm, so I called into my mums work unexpected (Well it wouldn’t have been had she answered her mobile) And got told that I really look like her    That’s my blood tests also sorted for 1.25pm tomorrow, so no doubt I’ll have to wait a few days before getting wind of the results, which I can kind of guess what they’ll be.  The only problem being I’ve gotta starve from 10pm tonight until I’ve had my blood tests done, and I’m only allowed to drink water! God damn it I’ll be starving by 10am.

Preston tonight for the Toon, and we’re on the bloody telly again! We’re like Chelsea/Man Utd of the Championship, being on telly most weeks    Let’s hope for 3 points and a few goals, so we can reclaim top spot from West Brom and keep a bit of a cushion between the rest of the play-off positions (this means we’ll get battered like normal :( )

A few sunday comics

For a while I used to read the explosm comics “Cyanide and Happiness” and post the best ones on my blog, then I got a little bored, and one or two people said it’d be better if  I didn’t.  Anyway I’ve been catching up on them, and found one or two awesome ones, including this one, which was pretty much how I was at the doctors on Friday evening hahaha

New songs from old songs

I’m not normally a fan of these songs, where they seem to take a quality song from decades gone by, and the proceed to rap/sing over the top of it or something.  Since I got the new Jay-Z album today I’ve taken an instant liking to one of them very songs.  I’m gonna post two versions, and am wondering which of the two you prefer!  I’ll admit that listening to the Alphaville version does make me wanna shut my eyes and just think of happy times from my childhood or something.

Hmm whats in your cosmetics?

I thought Maddsy was taking the piss when he told me about this news story yesterday! It’s a little harrowing to say the least…

LIMA (Reuters) – Peruvian police said on Thursday they had broken up a gang that allegedly killed dozens of people and sold their fat to buyers who used it to make cosmetics.

Four Peruvians were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, murder and trafficking in human fat.

The group stored the fat it collected in used soda and water bottles, which police showed reporters.

“We have people detained who have declared and stated how they murdered people with the aim being to extract their fat in rudimentary labs and sell it,” said Police Commander Angel Toldeo.

Whole of the Reuters story can be found HERE

Luckily I look about 10 years older than I am at the moment, so I will not be bothering with any cosmetics at any point in my life    And whilst looking at random news articles..

A husband in China has left his wife after she forced him to eat cake for every meal.

Cheng Yu said he was happy with the sugary treats at first but now just mentioning the word cake made him ill.

‘Egg cake, fruit cake, chocolate cake. I felt like a bakery dustbin,’ he said.

The 31-year-old from Beijing has threatened to divorce Tian Mae, 27, if she doesn’t stop baking.

Or maybe this one

A stuffed giraffe has been rescued from the clutches of a pervert who wanted to have sex with it.

Police in Oregon, USA, saw a drunken man, picking up the 1.3m (4ft) tall toy outside a shop and simulate sex with it twice.

‘He was pretty enamoured with it and decided he was taking it home,’ said Sergeant Bob Smith.
