Well what a nail-biting end to the first ashes test that was! England needing to bat all day, and doing their up-most to collapse like usual, managed to bat out the 3 sessions to take the most unlikely of draws!   Monty Panesar and Jimmy Anderson managed to last 11 overs scoring a few runs, which is unlike Monty to be fair! Lets hope some heads are bashed together, and some brainstorming is going on ahead of Thursday and the start of the 2nd test at the home of cricket @ Lords.

I’ve been in agony since Friday nights football antics with bloody blisters on my feet.  Being my own worst enemy, when they first started to hurt I walked around the pitch like normal, but when the ball came to me, I forgot all about the blisters and ran through to goal, only remembering when the pain struck once the euphoria of scoring wore off haha! In the end I had to pretty much put the pressure on the side of my feet as it was bloody painful to walk normally.  Upon seeing  my limping on the Saturday morning, my rather inquisitive mother asked what I’d been up to and she showed me some of these clear gel blister plasters from Scholl.  After a few minutes they worked, and I was able to walk with minimal discomfort as opposed to earlier in the day/the previous evening (of which I spent with my feet in a bowl of warm water  )

My blister relief!

Not done a great deal this weekend, apart from watch a few films including Armageddon, Romeo Must Die, and Watchmen.  I think it’s safe to say it’s one of the most random and gorey films i’ve seen in a long time.  Given I’m not big on horror movies haha!  Some of the gorey action involves a man having his arms angle-grinded off, a man being hit repeatedly in the head with a butchers cleaver, where you see parts of his head/brain fly about! All in all a very very random film which goes on far too long!

“Watchmen” is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” – which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union – is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion – a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers – Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity… but who is watching the Watchmen?”

Last nights Top Gear was by far one of the best.  Most notably for Jeremy Clarkson playing an automobile version of the now banned kids playground game “British Bulldog” with the some british military personell with some awesome military vehicles!

British bulldogs (often the singular British bulldog, also bulldog, bulldogs or bullies) is a tag-based game, of which Red Rover is a descendant, played mainly in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and other Commonwealth countries by children at school. The game is characterised by its physicality often being regarded as violence leading it to be banned from many schools, although this trend is now being reversed.[1]

The play area is usually a large hall or large area of a playing field, though there are no definition of the size of the pitch nor the number of players as long as there is enough space for the players to manoeuvre and enough players to have fun.

Most commonly one or two players are selected as the Bulldogs, though this may be higher in large spaces, and they stand in the middle of the play area. All remaining players stand at one end of the area (home). The aim of the game is to run from one end of the field of play to the other, without being caught by the bulldogs. When a player is caught, they become a bulldog themselves with the winner is the last player or players ‘free’.
