Talk of the Toon!
Well what a weekend that was! More about that in a moment tho. Friday was the begining of my random weekend. We got a call mid-morning that something needed picking up from Market Harborough, and as there was only me, Maddsy and Smash (who only rides on 2 wheels) it was down to me to head off to go and pick it up! Chuckled to myself as I was getting closer to my destination, when Wigston started appearing on the Sat-Nav. People who know me will know how easily pleased I am, so I took a bit of a detour through Wigston on the way home. All in all I was out the office for a few hours. The only downside was the piping hot Roast Pork, Apple Sauce and Stuffing cob that was placed on my desk at 12pm, only for me to return closer to 2pm
Nothing worse than eating what was once a nice hot filled cob, that has gone cold! I vented my disgust but to no avail haha! Football was a bit crap this week, as only 11 turned up again. It’s better when you get about 14 and its nice and even then.
Had hoped for a lie in Saturday morning, but with me being the lazy sod I was, I hadn’t got anything together for the weekend away with Bagi and the lads, so I was up early. Then I ended up sat around for what seemed like an eternity waiting for them to come and pick me up. Bagi’s earlier estimation of being at mine bout half 10 turned into 1pm! Almost 3 hours of sat watching the telly bored out of my tree. The mood was nice and jovial on the way up, listening to Michael Jackson among other random music on Wayniacs Ipod. Got to the hotel after only a minor detour, with Butler taking a left instead of a right haha
Finally pulled up at the Guest House and went inside. It had a bit of a Fawlty Towers feel about it, and the bloke running it seemed a bit more Manuel than Basil Fawlty. He showed us up to our room, which was when something clicked. Our ROOM! There was 5 of us, and we ended up in what can only be described as an attic conversion. 6 beds in the room. Like a muppet I chose the one under the bloody seiling window.
We dropped our stuff off and freshened up a bit before heading off on the “5 minute walk” into town. Turned out to be more like 15 minutes! It wasn’t long before we were stood outside the MECCA of Championship football haha! Butler seemed quite impressed (Think he’s a Forest fan) I used my limited knowledge of the area, from my previous ventures up to Newcastle, which lead me from the Multi-Story car=park to St James’ Park and back again. Luckily enough I knew where The Gate was. Stayed in Lloyds bar for 15 minutes and watched the England game till half time, before exiting to find somewhere with “a bit more atmosphere” Thats when we were collared by some lad working for Sam Jacks, telling us of the half-time entertainment that they had on at the minute, and also what was going on after the England game hehe! Headed back via Subway as everyone was peckish and sat on Gallowgate chilling out for a bit.
Didn’t take us all that long to get ready, and Butler proved himself to be a whiz with the tiny travel iron he’d brought with him. Man prepared for any eventuality I’d say. Jumped in a taxi and got him to give us the low-down on the area. We were told The Gate and The Bigg Market were the places to visit. Got dropped off and walking round the corner I got a pretty big shock. This was the second time I’d been somewhere miles away from Mansfield, and bumped into Will Riley. It happened when Mansfield went to Cardiff to play Huddersfield in the Play-Off Final a few years back, and it had happened again Sat night. Johns phone must have been hot, as we both text him saying “What the fuck, just bumped into Wiggy/Will” haha! From that moment the night got a little messy. First off it was the Sports Bar in which Jim bought the first proper round, which consisted of 5 Double Vodka and Red Bulls totalling £25! OUCH!! The rest of the rounds cost about £15 on average. Called into Sam Jacks, and we got a taste for some of the dancers in there, and their routines, and one person commented that “this is more like it, there’s loads of women out now” having earlier been more like a sausage-fest due to the football and half-time entertainment
Found some sociable Geordies who were giving us the low-down on the best places to go, given our varied musical tastes. Went into a few 70′s and 80′s places like Flares and the lovely named 80′s Bar. We got talked into visiting this one bar, that was “Heaving and had just let a hen-party in” The women who talked us into it was correct about the hen-party, but it was dead apart from them and us. The music was banging tho. Wayniac told the women she’d conned us as we walked past her, and me and Butler wanted to go visit the bar again
I’d taken a shine to one of the party HAHA!
Was about now that me and Butler really fancied a club, and everyone we spoke to mentioned Liquid. Bagi was on the phone to Carla, and Wayniac and Jim didn’t make much noise bout wanting to join us, and seemed a bit put off by the price to get in, so the pair of us followed a few people into Liquid. Cost £8 each to get in, but we both loved every minute in there. It was huge compared to the small Liquid we have in Mansfield, and we just partied hard
We have since found out looking back at these photos that Geordies appear to have a problem holding the camera still when taking a photo HAHA! We were both gutted when the music wound down with Dizzie Rascal, and then that was it! Walked half-way back to the guest house, before flagging down a taxi. Not till after I’d gotten a few night shots of my beloved St James’ Park.
I was surprised how well I slept, given that I was directly under the skylight, well that was until for sure obsure reason that is only known to Jim, he woke up, and couldn’t get back to sleep, so he decided to wake us all up! Think the reason I didn’t feel violently sick like I normally would have done was due to the fact I still felt drunk. We al sat up chatting about the previous nights events, until we decided it’d be best to leave the hotel, as our rooms had to be vacated by 10am. Parked up in in the Metro Car-Park outside the ground, and walked to Lloyds bar, and got there right on opening. We all had this great idea of ordering large breakfasts, with only Butler able to finish his. He even had the offer of helping himself to Wayniacs Sausage! Had a random hungover walk around Newcastle for a bit and I called into the Newcastle shop, where they had a 2 for 1 sale on all sale items. Ended up buying the Grey 3rd kit from last season for £15, and so Bagi gave me £7.50 and he got the free one! I was over the moon with such a bargain. On the way home, Bagi decided he wanted to cross the Tyne Bridge, which then lead us into loads of traffic. Jim didn’t help the mood with his down-eight terrible flatulance, which made us ALL hang our head out of the window. Quick stop off at the Angel of the North, and then we were motoring home. Got to The M18, and cut across to the M1, and Wayniac got a text saying it was thundering at home. A few miles futher down on the M1 and it bucketed it down. It was constant pretty much all the way home from then on. Even tho we called into Burger King before hitting the M18, I was starving once I got home, so I headed into my mums in the faint hope that they had a spare sunday dinner! Turned out that cos she knew I was away she didn’t cook an extra one for me
Had to make do with 2 Egg Cobs and a banana. Felt myself slowly falling asleep, so thought it was safer to head off home. Sat chatting on MSN for an hour or two, before being in bed for half 9, and asleep by 9.31pm haha!
More Photos from the weekend can be found HERE, and once Jim posts his on Facebook I’ll add some more to there.
So last night I went to the gym for a session on the chest. Weighed myself, and since I started drinking water at work, I seem to have put on 6lbs, and now weigh 11 stone 11! What the hell. Heaviest I was before I came to the gym was about 9 Stone 6 haha! Also measured my BMI which came out at 19.2% against Johns lean 10.5% So I’ve got something to work on for the summer. Now I’m aching like hell from the stint in the gym!
Not only have I had my $21 payment from Adgitize, I’ve also cashed-out 10,000 credits on Entrecard for a nice sum of $10. So thats now sat in my Paypal account too

Sounds like you had a great time in the Toon, though that isn’t tough to do since it is a great city. Love your photos of St James. The husband and I got married at the Civic Centre at 9am on a Saturday and were at St James at 3pm for the kick-off. Couldn’t have had a better wedding day.
Yeah that good we’ve been on the phone to each other asking when we’re sorting it again HAHA! That sounds like a wedding day to die for! Question is Theresa… Did the Toon win?!?
Well, yes they did but it was sadly one of very few that season because it was the last time the Toon were relegated. So now you need to remember back when was the last season they were relegated and that will tell you how long ago I got married!! lmao
