Anyone for tennis?

Man I’m shattered after this weekend.  First off congrats to England U21′s who have reached tonights final of the U21 Euro championships, where we will no doubt lose to the Germans on penalties or something.  Having gotten off to a great start on Friday afternoon, going 3 up by half-time, Stuart Pearce was rightly disappointed at the lack of respect shown to the Swedes in letting them come back to 3-3.  James Milner did a “Beckham” and slipped as he took his penalty, which if you’re not English will look quite comical I imagine.  Didn’t find out the result till I got back in from football.  One of the lads who works at Manor told us it had gone to penalties as he was kicking us off the pitch.

Was another good laugh this weekend, and in front of goal I was on fire drilling shots into the bottom corner on 3 or 4 occasions haha!  Shame Mr Taylor was busy day-dreaming, and let Monica score about 5 goals past him.  When warming up Lee was whipping some crossed in, and I tried a bicycle kick, and proceeded to kick the ball with my big toe which then led to at least a minute rolling around on the floor in agony.  My toe is still sore now at the time of writing this.  After footy I waited around in the car-park chatting to Lee and we sorted out me going round Sat night as Nic was out at a Take That concert in Manchester till Monday.  Got home and hobbled about a bit before getting myself comfy in front of the telly whilst having a chat with CarolAnne.

Even tho I had a latish night, I was still up around 8 and off to meet my mother in Tesco for our Sat morning ritual of a bit of shopping and breakfast, followed by coffee at the coffee shop with her mate Sue.  Continued my career on Tiger Woods golf, and noticed that my father has been changing some of the bloody settings, mainly making the greens harder to play on, so I found it difficult haha! I even 5 putted on a par 3 which was not cool. Watched the British Lions 2nd Test against the Springboks, and it was a very brutal affair, and numerous Lions players have been hospitalised throughout this tour  It was very gutting to be up within the last 20 minutes, and then to lose a series with the last kick of the game.  They’ve still got one test to play, but I’d have loved it if there was more than pride to play for.

Headed to the gym later afternoon where me and Blaine proceeded to take the piss out of John for a bit.  did some more work on the chest.  Got to Lees around 7ish and we messed about on the Xbox for a while.  Lee is a big tennis fan, so we played a few games against each other on Virtua Tennis 3, before he came up with the bright idea of playing against some folks on xbox live.  We battered the computer but thats where the joy ended.  We came across this lad called Calligula14 or something, and in about 8 sets of 3 games apeice I don’t think me and Lee won one set :?   how embarrasing.  That youth must have been sat at his Xbox laughing his head off at the pair of us diving for the same shots.  Had some chinese and watched Transporter 3 and got chatting about certain stuff as you do, and before long we were on Co-op on Call Of Duty 5 and it was almost 2am!!  Driving home wasn’t too bad till I got to Sutton Road right near the town centre.  2 people decided it’d be fun to run out into the middle of the road and stop me.  Luckily I was driving slow knowing what drunk twats are like in Mansfield.  One stumbled off the kerb and fell into the road, but caught his balance at the last moment.  I’d stopped and he looked at the car, before deciding to get back onto the pavement, where he again proceeded to fall over the kerb, and this time stumbled into a wall where he hit his head! Bloody idiot.

Got up late sunday morning and enjoyed a bit of a lie in before heading over to my mum and dads.  Our Owen was round and he was in his usual random mood, altho at one point, he just sat there with a sad face cos no-one would play hide and seek with him.  God knows how our Stef managed to sleep through it all, as hew as running and banging about upstairs, altho reports state that our Stef was smashed good and proper Sat night haha!

Lee got round to mine just before 4, and we headed off to play Tennis!!! I’d not played since I was in school, and I used to be pretty good, and it wasn’t long before Lee was firing his serves into the box, leaving me to try and return.  He won all the games we played, due to his poor racket I’d borrowed (Told you I’d use that excuse Lee)  but it was good to run around with the sun out and smash a few tennis balls around the court.  Luckily Calligula14 was no-where to be seen.  Spent the rest of the day/evening aching like hell and watching a quite thrilling finale to the Confederations Cup in South Africa.  Not sure if they showed the Spain vs South Africa game on BBC, but after the first half, I thought the USA were in for a shock result, but Brazils quality paid off in the end.
