Congratulations

Must go out to Jock (Our football captain) and his partner Brenda on their Marriage today.  Just got back from the reception, under 2 of our marquees may I add) ANd hope they had a lovely day.  I know Jock did, cos Rangers clinched a League and Cup double today beating Falkirk booooooo.  The lads never though we’d see the day that Jock would be wearing a Pink shirt and Tie combo, and also that at his reception we’d be listening to music from Dirty Dancing! Thats for another day tho.

Hmmm I’m becoming more geeky

I was happy to find this info out earlier hahah! Seems my mate Crit was also happy with the announcement:

British broadcaster Sky has struck a deal with Microsoft that will see live football, TV and film content brought to the Xbox 360.

The deal marks the Xbox’s first move into live linear broadcast TV.

Rival consoles, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii, can access catch-up TV content via the BBC’s iPlayer.

Sky’s channels will be available on the Xbox 360 from the autumn, but no specific line-up or pricing details have been given.

Users of Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service on the 360 in the UK and Ireland will be able to watch Sky’s live sport, programmes, catch-up TV and on demand films, without the need for a satellite dish or set-top box, or to be an existing Sky customer.

More of this on the BBC WEBSITE

My Xbox will get even more use then, altho it’s been neglected lately.

Was over the moon last night as I managed to move my car.  Was walking home, and bumped into Chris Chamberlain who lives opposite, and we got chatting, and he said if I had any jump-leads he’d try and help get my motor started.  No sooner had he connected them, the good old Integra was roaring back into action.  Took it for a bit of a drive, and once I got home I left it an hour, Bagi nipped round for half an hour, and then I tried it again and it’s working fine.  Worked first time this morning too, so hopefully if I can give it a regular outing, rather than just home ~> Work ~> Home then it’ll be running fine.  *Fingers crossed anyway*

Fun Friday

So I’ve been a member of the Blogging for Fun group for a while, but never taken part in any of their Fun Friday blog posts, but since I think this is a good one, I’m taking part.  The theme for this post is looking up info from the year you were born.  I’ve managed to find an article highlighting some of the stuff Melissa and the others in the group are to research.:

It was a time when Don McClean’s version of Roy Orbison’s ‘Crying’ sat atop the singles chart, its glum chorus summing up a country struggling to emerge from the late-70s doldrums.

GDP had dropped by -1.8 per cent while unemployment, at 5.8 per cent or 1.56million, was still some 0.3 per cent or 360,000 short of today’s more painful figure.

While Britons got by on an average wage of £6,000 (the equivalent of about £19,000 today), petrol cost 28p a litre (90p), a pint of beer was 35p (£1.10), a loaf of bread 33p (£1.10) and a pint of milk 17p (54p).

At the month’s end, the pre-decimal sixpence was withdrawn from circulation. Later that summer, Alexandra Palace in London was part-destroyed by fire.

Lets celebrate with a song

What a game.  Barcelona are quite rightly crowned Champions of Europe after an awesome 80 minute display of pass and move against Man Utd last night.  Man Utd were on top for the opening 10 minutes, but once Barcelona found their stride, they made Utd look almost ordinary.  Xavi and Iniesta are immense when playing together, and their close passing had the Man Utd midfield almost chasing shadows at times.  Anderson really did look out of his depth, and played more like Darren Anderton and Carrick tried the angled cross-field pass TOO many times.  Park and Giggs ran around aimlessly but to no avail.  All in all a good night haha!  Seems Fergies plan didn’t quite work out either.  Lets throw Scholes on, and suddenly turn into a bunch of dirty buggers, hoping we can clock up a load of stoppage time in which we can score just like in 1999! So I’m gonna celebrate it with a song I think….

You’ve gotta love it

Not been sleeping well these last few nights again, and I may have an idea why, but I’m not gonna go into it on here for the sake of my sanity, But this weekend I think I’m gonna get some Nytol, or next weekend in Newcastle I’ll be like some sort of Zombie.  Wooo can’t wait till next Saturday morning when we’re on our way from Mansfield to Newcastle.

Had a chat with Crit the other day, about how close I was just under 3 years ago to selling the house, and moving back in with my mother.  So glad that I didn’t go ahead with the sale, altho it has been a lonely last few years.  Looking back I could have had a better car, and pissed all my wages up against a wall and everything, but I’m glad I have the house, even if at the moment I’m struggling on by.  Glad I had a chat with Mark who basically told me to “Man up” and keep the house, and ignore pressure from her and her family to sell.

And in other random news, if my various inboxes are to be believed, I’m the proud owner of about 10 sets of 250 Business Cards.  How great is that!

Remember to use Sun Cream!

Poor Smash at work has learnt that lesson I think after this weekend.  He’s REALLY red in the face, after deciding to walk from Ingoldmells to Skegness on Saturday, when the sun was out.  He’s learnt that the wind can be nasty when burning your skin, as it takes moisture away.  I somehow think that next time he may also wear a hat, as he’s thining on top and it looks so red and sore I even went “ouch” when I first saw it this morning.  Being the sympathetic trio that me, Maddsy and Crit are we started calling him Sebastien (from Little Mermaid fame) and also Mr Krabby (Spongebob Squarepants Boss)  A few other one-liners were tossed his way, and he said he WILL get his revenge on us.

Yesterday was pretty much a wasted day, as I just laid on the sofa watching DVD after DVD before deciding to head to the shop for some snacks.  Watched the Play-off Final, hoping that there would be a little cheer for Sheff United, but it wasn’t to be and they were out thought by Owen Coyle and Co. Looks like it’s a battle between the pair of us next season then Mr 6k.  May the best team (the one in Black and White) win.  Good news from St James’ is that Habib Beye, a huge fan favourite is pledging himself to the team for next season, and even Damien Duff, who long0time readers of this will know is not one of my fave players) is vowing to stay and help us gain promotion next season.

End of Season Presentation Night & Relegation

So it’s been a mixed weekend.  The highs of going out with the lads saturday night, and all the drunken antics that go with that, and then the extreme lows of this weekend i.e. Rangers winning the title, and the Toon dropping into the Championship  It does hurt deep down, but I suppose the fact I resigned myself to this for a few weeks, means I had prepared myself a little ready for it.

Anyway, Saturday was a long day, with me getting up about 8 to go and meet my mother in town for our usual Saturday morning walk around town and breakfast.  Walked into River Island, and saw a T-shirt and Jumper combination, so I ended up buying them to wear out that night.  Dropped my mother off at the coffee shop, and then nipped up to hers for a shower, as I began smelling like a yak (no offence Harry).  Got home, and got my stuff ready, as Maddsy was due anytime between 1 and 1:40 for my afternoon being a taxi driver.  Both car-parks were rammed at the Festival Hall, but Maddsy managed to find a place behind a shop, and so I headed to the gym for a good hard session, before heading back to his to get ready.  Since I last drove my car 3 weeks ago I’ve driven:

Maddsy’s L200

Stevie’s Merc

Work’s Renault Traffic

Mark’s Land Rover

Day off

First day off work using one of  my annual holidays for ages.  Baring in mind that I didn’t use 6 days LAST year, I’ve decided that I’m not gonna miss out on any days off this year, so expect to have random fridays off every now and again, and then try and get a week before christmas off or something.  Anyway, me being the light sleeper I am, I was woken up on my day off at 6am when some cars went past the house.  Like a muppet I’d left my window ope.  Decided there and then to shut it, and try to go back to sleep.  I can never lie in, and normally once I’ve opened my eyes, I have to get up :(

Very early on in the day I decided to find the motivation to give the whole house a once over, and spent half the day with my marigolds on, scrubbing the flooring, bleaching the plug-holes etc.  I’m now living in a house where I don’t mind if I have guests HAHA.  Had to nip into work late afternoon, to help out in the hire job we’ve got at McArthur Glen this weekend.  As mentioned yesterday, I’m gonna miss the majority of the Newcastle game, through having to take down the job, so hoping I can get a portable radio with MW frequency so I can pick up Radio 5 LIVE and at least listen to the most important game of Newcastles recent history.

Smash is a bit rock/heavy metal type music fan, and he was shocked the other day when I was humming to myself the tune of a song that was in my head at that moment in time. He looked at me as he was trying to figure out what I was humming, and then I started singing:

One, nothing wrong with me
Two, nothing wrong with me

He had a quizical look on his face asking me if I had any idea what I was signing, and I told him it was a song called “Let the bodies hit the floor”  He was staggered that I knew the song, and asked how I knew it.  Neither of us could remember who sang it, but the GEEK inside of me knew it was the theme tune to a Wrestlemania a few years back. 10 minutes later he poked his head round the corner and told me it was by Drowning Pool haha! Just as I was about to tell him the same thing, and that I was right, and it was Wrestlemania 20′s theme song.  The amount of useless knowledge between me and Smash, regarding certain films and musicastounds Crit

Scenic Route to work

I suppose I got a bit lucky when me and the ex bought the house, with it being about 10 minute walk from work.  It’s not a bad walk, specially first thing in the morning during the summer, when the sun is out and there is a little breeze.  It’s a bugger walking home, as there is a massive hill.  anyway the other day as I mentioned, I was walking down the said hill, on the path which is covered in mud, and it has a massive covering thanks to the hundreds of trees in the way, which is nice when it’s raining as you’re quite protected.  Anyway walking down this hill, and something caught my eye.  It was white, but then the more I focussed (With this being about 6:50am) I saw it was a burnt out car.  the closer I got the more I recognised the shape.  My ex boy-racer wannabe past serves me well    I walked past it all week, and only this morning decided to get a photo of it, as I’ve got the day off work tomorrw, even tho I’ve gotta head in at 5pm! *Thats another story*

Early morning hoovering!?!

This morning I’m feeling a little like an extra from one of Simon Pegg’s films.  Yeah thats right I’m feeling like a zombie this morning I’m that shattered.  not helped by the fact I was watching CSI till 12 last night.  But mainly cos one of my neighbours decided at 10 past 5 or something extreme like that, that now is as good a time as any to get the bloody hoover out!!!

Now I’m a very calm person, so I did something that would make any army general happy during a time of conflict, I put my Ipod headphones in, wandered down stairs and equipped myself with the iron and ironing board, and I slowly ironed my clothes for today! Good job I didnt have any soothing music on my Ipod tho, as I’d prob have fallen asleep there and then, and burnt my house down or something.  By the time I’d finished and had a drink it was bout 10 to 7 so in a rather slow fashion I got ready and left for work.  On the way to work yesterday I noticed a Toyota MR2 shell.  It was obviuos it’d been stolen and burnt on the spot.  Safe to say it was still there today.

Caught up on about 5 episodes of Special 1 TV, and they just get better and better I think.  The creator Mario Rosenstock is immense with his accents for people like Jose, Rooney, Sven etc.  If you’ve never seen it, but love football, check out Doitchampions Youtube page HERE
