Hmmm is it me or is advertising just getting so stupid it’s untrue! The case in point is the new advert for Pot Noodle’s new Donner Kebab flavour.  I saw it and thought “What The Fuck”  But to be fair I’ve said that about most of their adverts

Thats the latest advert from a long line of random as fuck adverts over here in the UK! Which its safe to say dont make me wanna rush out and buy one! Given that I’ can’t seem to stand Kebabs at all :?

I’m thinking of a follow up to my last post about my top 5 football games with maybe the most controversial yet! Given Mr 6k’s comment about being at Old Trafford for the “Peschi-Save” during the Sheff United vs Arsenal FA Cup semi-final all them years ago, I MIGHT try and drum up atleast a top 5 goalkeeper saves, or maybe I’ll do a top 10 goals in my opinion post    anyway that will be later in the week I reckon so keep your eyes out.

Seems like my new friend “The Yak” has been let loose this weekend over on Retro Yakking and I’m the proud recipient of his “Jacket Potato Award” Wow cheers Mr Harry Yak *sniffs and wipes an emotional tear from his cheek

The brand new Jacket Potato Award!

The brand new Jacket Potato Award!

So this weekend has been a pretty important one football wise, for quite a few teams! It was FA Cup Semi-Final weekend with Man United, Chelsea, Everton and The Arse all gunning for a place in the show-piece cup final at Wembley on May 30th.  Also there was a small matter of a few vital 6-pointers at the bottom of the Premier League on Saturday which would give Newcastle an idea of how VITAL 3 points would be against Tottenham on Sunday lunch-time.  Anyway more about that later I think.

Thursday night I got myself settled on the sofa once I’d finished work, and sorted myself something to eat out, and watched by far the most random film I’ve seen for a long time.  It’s so stupid and maybe thats why I loved it, and me, Crit and Smash ended up doing nothing more than talking about it, and quoting the film all day, whilst Maddsy just looked on a little perplexed and thinking “What the fuck are you on about you weirdos”  I thought the film was brilliant but stupid.

Spolier for anyone wanting to watch it who hasn’t….

A film crew is in Southeast Asia filming a Vietnam-war memoir. It’s early in the shooting, but they’re already behind schedule and over budget. On the day an accident befalls the novice director, the cast and crew are attacked by a gang of poppy-growing local drug dealers, except the cast and crew don’t realize these aren’t actors who are stalking them. The thugs kidnap Tugg Speedman, an actor whose star seems on the decline, and it’s up to the rest of the ragtag team to band together long enough to attempt his rescue. But will Tugg want to leave?

Finished work on Friday and went over to Manor later that evening, it does feel quite weird playing at 7.30 – 8.30 at the minute, cos I was so used to getting home from work, getting changed and then being out the house.  Was not impressed with running down the line and having Burrows run into me with her shoulder, sending me sprawling across the pitch! Revenge will be sweet! Women shouldnt kick men playing football if they dont wanna get kicked back, as Monica nearly found out right at the end ;)   Ended up aching like a bugger and just chilling out on the sofa watching the latest NCIS and an episode of CSI New York, chatting to CarolAnne before heading to bed.

Was up and in town as usual to meet my mum for breakfast then head over to the coffee shop.  I had mentioned that altho I only have 2 pairs of trousers for work, and managed to blag my mum into buying me another pair, along with 2 shirt/tie combos. Didnt stay over Rainworth way too long, and called and got myself a hair appointment for next saturday, which is gonna be one mad night, as it’s Jock (Captain of the football team on sundays and an unfortunate Rangers fan  ) Stag do round Mansfield, so wanna be looking good for that.  No doubt I’ll be able to sneak a few photos on here of the lads pissed up, as I’m gonna drive down and act as a taxi for the lads, and see if I can make any money out of them hehehe!  Watched the cup Semi-Final between Arsenal and Chelsea and thought maybe Arsenal could sneak it, but Lampard and his “Aimless” long ball seemed to work on that occasion and Drogba rounded a VERY dodgy goalkeeper and put Chelsea into the final. I was feeling down after that as the results seemed to be very much against us (Newcastle) this weekend, with the SCUM beating Hull City 1-0 and pulling 5 points ahead of us, The Smoggies drawing 0-0 with Fulham thus moving us down a place into 19th! Jesus H Christ, there is only West Brom below us  How bad is that *sobs uncontrollably*  Sat night wasn’t much better just sat chatting to Carol Anne again watching the usual Saturday night programming on Channel 5.

Got up early sunday morning anticipating the Shanghai Grand Prix, and turned the telly on to see it pissing it down! They ended up starting the first 7 odd laps under safety car conditions, and there were still cars skidding off the track as they aqua-planed heading into a corner. Watched it until 9am then headed over to Macdonalds for some breakfast and then over to Maddsys.  Luckily there was no kids downstairs running around, so I sat and ate my breakfast in peace whilst watching the remainding few laps (Well I managed to get to 6 laps remaining before having to go to football)  He ended up staying at home, so he could stain his decking, and then take Dylan to football.  What he missed was by far the best performance we’ve put in as a team in my eyes.  Everyone did what was expected of them, and I really enjoyed playing on the right of the 3, with Sammo causing havoc down the line.  Played a few nice 1-2′s with him and enjoyed it.  It’s not everyday you get the team at the top of the league saying they dreaded coming to our place as we were the best side they’d face this season, a sentiment echoed by Seb (Their Manager) after the game in the changing rooms.  Our movement was brilliant with loads of passing and moving between the lads.  When chasing the game the smallest player on the pitch had 2 headed chances, one which hit the post and one I cleared from the line, which if I remember right we cleared their corner, Sammo got the free-kick which lead to our equaliser with 2 minutes to go.

Brads match report

What a performance! The only thing missing was goals.

We controlled this game from start to finish and were very unlucky not to get all 3 points as our performance demanded, but it was always going to be hard with our leading goalscorer sunning it up in Skeg-vegas.

With Bud away in came Scotty to partner Winty upfront, while Greg moved to the bench with Jock returning to the starting line-up.

Despite a shaky start were we passed the ball to a Jolly striker in the 1st minute who thankfully fluffed his effort, we penned Jolly Friar in there own half for much of the 1st half, Moorey, Smithy and Scotty all had decent efforts on goal but could not find the onion bag before Willa, hit over the bar when it seemed easier to score, completing a spell of 20 passes without letting Jolly have a touch.

Half-time 0-0

It was an encouraging team-talk as we were playing so well, with Brad only highlighting the fact that we need to stay focused.

Again it was RandK that was asking all the questions with Wintys effort standing out, He pounced on a sloppy ball from the Friars goalie and under pressure just narrowly hit it wide after it took a deflection.

Disaster struck mid-way through the 2nd half when Jock lost his cool and blatantly cropped a Jolly Friar player inside the box, Penalty! Goal! 0-1!

RandK pushed forward in search of an equaliser to at least give Innovate and Cockle something to fight for in the league, but without Bud whose goals have been vital this season we found it hard to create a clear-cut chance.

With players pushing up Jolly smashed a shot against the post and were starting to have a spell of posession for the 1st time in the game.

As the clock was ticking down RandK received a free-kick just inside the Friars half, Brad ordered everyone to get into the box and it paid off, with the ball being scrambled into the net by Sami. 1-1.

At this point Brad decided to wind the Jolly Friars subs and management up by saying ‘They was’nt going to win the League’ which was very funny as they took the bait and bit like starved piranhas.

A excellent performance today boys, play like this next season and we will be unstoppable.

Having played all of the top 3 teams in this Division, i would say Innovate are perhaps the strongest team RandK have come up against but it has been a tight Division with the top 3 teams all taking more points of us then RandK took off them and that has been our downfall this season, ‘Not beating the teams above us’. However to say we finished bottom of Division 5 last season we have done brilliantly and can now look to getting a good pre-season before giving the league serious thought next season.

MOM – Sami, chosen by Col. It could have been anyone today but Samo got the award through a excellent performance on the right side of midfield and capping it with the equalising goal. Well done pal.

Goal summary:

90 min – Sam Whyman (6/10)
A textbook right footed finish from six yards out by Sam Whyman, following a goalmouth scramble. Chris Wint claimed an assist.

As it’s getting close to the end of our season now (2 games left) Brad is making a final push to get lads back to the staff of life, as it’ll look better when he asks them to sponsor us again next season, and so we all went back for a drink.  Headed over to my mum and dads from there, and watched Newcastle.  For some reason the last 2 weeks we’ve played brilliant for the last 20 minutes of games, which just so happens to be when we’re a goal down!! Anyway Spurs played well, and got their bit of luck with one or two of our chances being off target.  It’s now looking very very desperate and our next games just so happens to be…

Mon 27th April – Pompey – Home MUST WIN

Sun 3rd May – Liverpool – Away JUST DONT GET BEAT 5-0 AGAIN!!

Monday 11th May – Smoggies – Home MUST WIN

Sat 16th May – Fulham – Home MUST WIN

Sunday 24th May – Villa – Away POINT MAY BE ENOUGH

Watched the other FA Cup Semi-Final at my mum and dads and thought the Everton fans were superb throughout, with the Man Utd fans obviously choking on their rather expensive Wembley Stadium Prawn Sarnies once they saw the team sheet which was pretty much their reserves!  Two things cheered me up after the Newcastle result earlier in the day… Fergie jumping up and down at the “Penalty-Claim”, Berba’s Penalty it’s self, which as agreed with the commentators was the worst penalty seen by a top international player.  I’ll see which way the goalkepper is going, then calmly stroke the ball his way at about 5mph.  The 3rd thing was Everton on their way to the FA Cup final.  Hopefully they can break the “Big 4′s” seeming strangle hold on the competition :D   By the time I’d had something to eat, and smuggled a big packet of our Stef’s Custard Creams out the house, and got home it was gone 7, so once I’d had a bath I messed about online for a bit whilst watching the end of Godzilla, then Rush Hour followed by Fist of Fury with Bruce Lee! Quite a night  of films there :D
