WordPress upgrade

Cheers to Olly for upgrading my WordPress version from what ever it was to the new one! It’s all changed and looking great at the minute :D Cheers dude

Poor Maddsy is whinging like hell right now! Basically he overheard Al at work tell me he had some Dowe Egberts coffee that he don’t like, and that we could have it if we pleased, nd so I headed down to Crits department and made the 3 of us (Me, Maddsy and Crit) some coffee.  Apart from the fact in our cups was the nice Dowe Egberts stuff, in Maddsys was the cheap and nasty 40p a jar coffee from ASDA.  We knew exactly what would happen, and it went right to script.  He did his usual kicking off about how he’s paid his £2 into the drinks fund this week bla bla bla, mean while me and Crit were pissing ourselves.

Dont forget also people to vote for 6000.co.za in the South Africa blog awards :)

The Lives of Others

So last night straight from work I decided to pay my grandparents a visit to discuss any charities that they know of that would be able to halp Autistic kids mainly, and they reccomended Yeoman Park Special School, of which Alex is a pupil, so they’re gonna ask my Aunty today to see if she has any ideas :) Had a nice chat with them, before my stomach told me I had to get out of there, and get something to eat

Watched another of the 4 DVD’s I bought last night, and in my eyes it’s the best one I’ve bought for a while! Here’s someones take on it from IMDB.  I was very hooked on this film, and know that it’s defo not gonna be to everyones fancy, but hey-ho! I enjoyed it which is all that matters to me :D

“The Lives of Others” is at once a political thriller and a human drama. The film opens in East Berlin, in 1984, with a scene where “Stasi” Captain Gerd Wiesler (Ulrich Muehe), code name “HGW XX/7,” is demonstrating his interrogation technique to a class of aspiring “Stasi” policemen, using an actual video of his own interrogation of a suspect. A student asks a question that Wiesler judges to be a bit too compassionate (read “bourgeois”), and the professor marks the student’s name on the attendance record: surely this student has just flunked the course, or maybe worse. During the feature’s first thirty minutes, von Donnersmarck depicts a portrait of Wiesler that seems to border on caricature: Wiesler is a highly skilled officer of the “Stasi”, a proud, zealous, disciplined professional. He is one of the many cogs in the wheel of “the System,” working anonymously and tirelessly, convinced that all his efforts are necessary for building a better Socialist society.

Tonight is gonna hurt! I’m gonna attempt to go from 2 1/2 plates up to 3 plates, which is what John is lifting! Best thing is upon telling him he said he’s gonna have to jump up to 3 1/2! He will NOT have me lifting anywhere near what he does, which is why I enjoy going to the gym with him, as opposed to going on my own! Need to start training for the Half Marathon too soon, which will hopefully sort the six-pack stomach out ready for the summer ;)

9-0 = Easy result

First of all belated happy birthday to Caz from Saturday :)

I’ve had a bit of a tidy-up on the blogroll and links, as Entrecard users have been told by today.com to remove their widget within 2 weeks, and there are a few today.com blogs that I enjoy nipping onto, so I’ve started to add them into a seperate blogroll :)

This weekend has mainly been a chilling on.  Have had a quick chat with Bobby, as we’re both on about running the Mansfield Half Marathon and the Robin Hood Marathon this summer, and he posted links to the forms online.  We were gonna do it 100% for the club with any sponsorship going into the club to help the future plans that both Bobby and Brad have for R&K, but I felt like running for a charity or something, so I’m gonna have a word with my Mama and see if there is any specific charity or something for Autism, with my cousin Alex being Autistic thought that I may be able to help a little, and Bobby has agreed that if I find someone worthy to run for, then he’ll join me, and we’ll split the sponsorship 50/50 with the club and charity.

Bit of an odd week!

Its been an odd week in a way.  Hell its never a normal week here at Mini-Marquees!! Not as long as I can remember in my 12 1/2 years working here  Part of this included Crit buying Semi-skimmed milk, Or Alien Milk as I mentioned in a previous blog the other day, only to try and pass it off as whole milk, by changing the lid on the milk carton :? So It had a big green label across the front, with a blue lid :? (Green = Semi-Skimmed around these parts, and Blue = Whole Milk) A Little crazy I know, but thats the sort of thing happens here!

Got my new phone through on Wednesday afternoon, and I’ve been happily playing with it since! I love it and spoke to my mum yesterday and mentioned I’d upgraded to the same phone as my youngest brother who just so happened to be stood near enough to her for me to make out “If he’s got the same phone as me I’ll batter him” He took the news well I’m guessing.  Maddsy for some reason took great pride in the fact that he watched a random program called “An interview with a Cannibal” and went into graphic detail telling me and Mark some of the stuff that was going off! Not for the faint hearted it seems!

Watched the New episode of CSI with Laurence Fishburne, and I loved it! For some reason you just can’t beat a good American drama series! Talking of which The Mentalist premiered on Five last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed that too, so I’m gonna add that to my list of American TV Shows that I’m gonna keep track of  With them being:

  • Prison Break
  • One Tree Hill
  • CSI
  • CSI Miami
  • CSI New York
  • The Mentalist
  • NCIS

The List seems to go on, but I’m more than happy at the moment to just sit in front of the TV with any of them shows on, and just chill out :D

The Geek inside of me

Is very excited at the release of 2 trailers, if you will, for my two favourite War Game franchises! I came across a blog last night with a teaser for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and then this morning speaking to Crit, in our Geek talk which seems to annoy Maddsy somewhat, we found a trailer for GRAW 3!!!

Heaven knows, I know the feeling…

This made me chuckle when Maddsy brought it to my attention earlier.  Given that the Prawn Sandwich brigade at Old Trafford would rather NOT get mud on their expensive loafers  I’m getting ready for the worst which I fear is gonna happen :(

A disgruntled Newcastle United fan has failed in a bid to get himself banned from St James’ Park by invading the pitch.

Kevin Southerton, 26, ran on to the field after Djibril Cisse scored for Sunderland in February’s Tyne-Wear derby.

He told police who pursued and arrested him: “I hope I get banned. I’m sick of watching this.”

Although Newcastle magistrates could have imposed a three-year banning order, they opted to fine him £200.

Defence solicitor Liz Dunbar said her client had acted impulsively and no longer wanted to be banned.

“Clearly, that was something said in the heat of the moment when he was very upset at the performance of Newcastle United,” she said.

“I don’t know very much about football but I understand he isn’t alone in that feeling at the moment.

“Nevertheless, he has clearly changed his mind about that.”

Newcastle lost 3-1 at home to Arsenal on Saturday, a result that left them languishing in the relegation zone.

Some more memorable fan protests:

June 1994 – A Bulgarian man throws his television out of his window in disgust after the national team are thrashed 3-0 by Nigeria in the opening game of the 1994 World Cup. Bulgaria go on to knock out holders Germany and reach the semi-finals.

April 2001 – During a 4-1 defeat away to Arsenal, an Everton supporter runs on to the pitch and offers his shirt to midfielder Alex Nyarko – suggesting the Toffees would be better off if the pair changed places. Nyarko duly slaps in a transfer request.

February 2006 – An angry Middlesbrough fan throws his season ticket at manager Steve McClaren during a 4-0 home defeat by Aston Villa. Nobody picks up the ticket. Later that year, McClaren is appointed England manager.

November 2006 – Fans of Schalke go silent for the first 19 minutes and four seconds (to signify the club’s founding in 1904) against Bayern Munich to protest against the team’s poor form. Schalke score in the 13th and 18th minutes but the game ends 2-2.

Just what I’ve always wanted…

Stink-Free Boxers

Teen-age boys, are you tired of embarrassing questions about when you last changed underwear? Japan’s space scientists may have just the answer — a line of odour-free underwear and casual clothing.

Koichi Wakata, the first Japanese astronaut to live on the International Space Station, is testing the clothes, called J-ware and created by textile experts at Japan Women’s University in Tokyo.

“He can wear his trunks (underwear) more than a week,” said Koji Yanagawa, an official with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency.

Tonights TV

I’m not bothered what else is on telly tonight! This is where the geek inside of me is coming to the fore  I really can’t wait for CSI to come onto Channel 5 over here in the UK, as it’s gonna be the first one with Laurence Fishburne with his CSI Level 1 badge :D God I’m such a geek, or is there anyone else out there who loves watching these shows?

New Phone Ordered!!

Get in! After seeing the Samsung Pixon up close and personal on sunday (Our Stef has one) I’ve decided to annoy the shit out of him and get the same phone  All I had to do was tweak my contract a little, so it’s costing another £5 a month, but I’m now getting 600 minutes instead of 250 and 1000 texts instead of 750! Plus all calls to o2 phones are meant to be free!!

I present you with my new phoine (Or it will be when they deliver it, as I only went through the upgrade this morning online)

Drinking on a School Night = Bad Times

OK… before I start I have a feeling this is gonna be one of them long, Go get a coffee sort of posts  Its the first time in ages that I’ve been quite busy.  First off we’ve been having some really random conversations at work lately.  I’ve been told that Semi-Skimmed milk over here in the UK is “Alien Milk” or “Fake Milk”, and that full cream is the proper milk! Just how Crits mind works is beyond me    Me and Wendy have been having a few chats reminiscent of chats her and Geoffrey would have in the past HAHA! About an article I saw on someones blog lately about America and China, and then we got chatting about learning history at school, and how I was fascinated by Stalin, Lenin, Hitler and Rasputin during our look at Russian and German history, but the UK history and politics part of the course bored the shit out of me.  I finally feel like I’m getting somewhere in this world as the following 2 pictures shows

Nothing like plugging the Hire business
