As the title says its been a mixed weekend. Had a great time on Friday night out round Newark, but then the news I heard Saturday put a bit of a downer on the whole weekend
MY thoughts are with the families of everyone involved in this most tragic of accidents…
The identities of six people, killed in a collision between two cars in Nottinghamshire, are not expected to be released before Tuesday.
Police believe they know the names of the victims of the crash on the A614, near Bilsthorpe.
But their details will not be released until post-mortem examinations have been carried out.
The four young people and a couple in their 60s died when their cars collided head-on on Friday night.
There was a constant stream of friends and relatives laying tributes to the deceased on Sunday.

Thursday evening I headed straight to the hairdressers from work, and battled the snowy weather again, before nipping round to my mum and dads for a bit. Had one of them new pizzas from Goodfellas. This one was a Nacho Chicken, and tasted bloody nice! After chilling there for a bit I headed home and basically chilled out watching a bit of telly and that, and wandered off to bed about 1ish expecting a little bit of a lie-in, but that wasn’t to be, and I found myself awake about 8ish on my birthday day-off work! Always happens, so I checked my phone, and saw I had one or two birthday messages, before nodding off for an hour! Had some breakfast and a few games on COD before becoming a little bored of it, and so I sorted myself out, opened my birthday cards *Thanks to the family for the money* and I settled down to a few films. Nipped into work to pick up a large Steak pie that I’d got Carol to order with their Friday food order, and headed back home! (Despite Maddsys best attempts to get ME to go to the bakers for him cos he wanted a Bacon cob
) Got a text off John saying he’d be in the gym about 3.45, and tried to reply saying I’d be there! Thats when I first learnt my phone wasn’t working hmmmmmmmm. Went onto my online account with O2, and turns out they didnt try and take any money from my account, or send me an email saying anything, they just cut me off!!! Tried to pay online, but that kept fucking up, so headed to the gym, stuck behind loads of traffic, and got there with John not knowing if I’d turn up or not, so he’d already started.

Mmmmmm this pizza was lovely!!
Got home aching like hell, and sorted out what time and where I’d be meeting Emzi and Martin down in Newark, and then slowly got ready. Was gonna nip into see my mum and dad, but didnt give myself enough time! Got down to the Barge pub bout half 8ish like I’d expected and Emzi, Martin and two of their friends were there already. Got a nice balloon and card from Em and went and moved my car to a more secure location
From the Barge we headed over to The Old Post Office! This seemed a nice lively joint. Em seemed a little down cos she wasn’t dressed up like the others, but I think I managed to cheer her up saying she looked just fine
As the name may suggest, this building used to be the main post office! Just how it became famous is not clear. Its cavernous interior is pleasant enough but is devoid of any real character.
The pub tries to offer something for everyone and has a split personality: By day it caters for the older generation, offering good food at reasonable prices. By night, the music plays at deafening levels, no less the FOURTEEN TVs play the latest music vids or sporting events, penguins appear on the door and the place fills to capacity with ‘youffs’ standing shouder-to-shoulder, bottles in hand.
However during the day, it’s a nice enough place to go and the outside drinking area is a little hidden oasis in the middle of town.
That partiulcar sentence made me chuckle when I was doing a bit of research into the place earlier
Headed over to Wetherspoons as it was nice and cheap, and I was asking Martin if he was cooking Em breakfast on V Day morning, as he’d planned to be working on his car for a few hours, leaving Em to bake a cake
Typical male I think! We left there bout half 11, and I agreed to give them a lift to ASDA. Not realising the nearest ASDA was still a good 25 mile round-trip! Was very random and we all kept wandering off! It had a somewhat eerie vibe about it, with there being about 6 people in there and about 15 staff and that was it
bought myself 2 DVD’s and then made my way home via dropping them two off. Got to the A614 roundabout, and noticed it was shut heading towards Bilsthorpe down the A614, but dismissed it. Wasn’t till the saturday morning when I noticed everyone from Rainworth and that changing their status’s to R.I.P lads, that I asked my mum, and was able to work out why I had a few police fly past me as I exited Newark Friday night, and also why the road was shut
Mmmmmm the cake Carol and Denise bought me on Thursday
My Birthday balloon… Emzi and Martin deciding on a cake!
Woke up Saturday to an empty letter box! No-one loves me it seems
Was in a bit of a somber mood once I’d found out what had happened the night before, thinking how it can happen to anyone. Ended up doing very little that day apart from watching a few games of football, and DVD’s with a pizza for one (ok the pizza was actually a large and could quite easily feed 2, but you get my point
) Watched the Wales vs England rugby game, and it was an improvement on the previous game, we were punished for slowing the game down and OK Martin Johnson’s admital that we’d be doing that made the ref aware from the start, but it appeared the Welsh were getting away with it a little more than the English lads! (Not sour grapes honest HAHA!) Sunday I spent most of the afternoon over at my mum and dads, before nipping to Tesco, purchasing a few more DVD’s. Bumped into Laura Leivers at Tesco, so had a bit of a chat with her about this and that, and then headed home to watch Man Utd outplay Derby. Monday was OK at work, and I didn’t do a deal once I’d finished apart from WALK to the chip-shop ! How healthy am I
Our Owen playing Golf on the Wii the other saturday before my grandfathers b’day meal
