So this was part 2 out of 3 long weekends on the trot
Had a nice chilled out weekend, with a few moments of action involved haha! Had to laugh on the Wednesday at work, when Colin, a UPS driver who used to do our rounds about 3 or 4 years ago, called in as he was back doing our area for the day as cover, and he was abusing Maddsy! As soon as he came up the stairs, cos Maddsy was on the phone he came over and we had a chat, and he asked “What, or should I say Who has he been eating?”
Didnt really get upto a lot Wednesday night, other than hitting the gym for a shoulders session, and then home to bed. Thursday seemed like a long day, knowing it was my last of the working week. Had a quick hour on COD that night, and then chilled out watching a dvd or two before heading upto bed still aching from the previous nights gym antics!
Friday, as the previous week, I found myself awake quite early, and for some reason just couldn’t get back to sleep, so I laid on the settee with a massive headache not doing much
Went on the XBOX for a few games of Headquarters to get some points up, and received a message from Crit, who had signed into his xbox.com account and saw that I was online playing
His message went as follows:
wig man get off the game or i will tell mr bill gate about your chipped x box!!!!!!!lol what level are you on?
Not bad to say my XBOX aint chipped at all the cheeky git! I’ve now clocked over 4 days 6 hours online on COD 5
Nipped into work to pick up a Steak pie, and then headed home for some dinner and to watch one of my many dvd’s before heading off to the gym for a session on the back! As always working on the back was hard, and we did some decent stomach exercises, with me using a machine to find I have about 18% body fat! I’d love to be able to get it down to somewhere around 13% by the end of the summer! Gonna be hard I know, but not impossible surely?!? Got home around 5ish and spoke to Kelly-Ann briefly over the net before heading out to football with the lads. Low and behold ended up on opposite team to John and the niggling abuse of each other started from there ahead of the game on Sunday. Got home and did very little after that apart from tuck into the delicious Steak Pie and some Spiced potato wedges! I can now see why my Body Fat is not coming down or anything
Woke up nice and early saturday morning, and headed into Mansfield to meet my mother for some Debenhams breakfast. after a bit of a walk round I nipped in to Topman and bought myself 2 t-shirts that were on offer, before we headed back off towards Rainworth and stopped off at the coffee shop to see Sue. She obviuosly had her blinkers on, as she told me I was very vain, but her Laura wasn’t vain in the slightest! Oh I beg to differ Sue! I really do :p Had a quick round on Tiger Woods golf in the afternoon whilst munching away on some Cheese-on-Toast before heading home! Was due to go out Sat night round Mansfield with Emzi and Martin, but they had to cancel as Martin was told last week that he was losing his job
Ended up getting a few beers in, and watching V for Vendetta again, whilst chatting to one or two folk.
Woke up earlier than I had hoped sunday morning, as I had to head over to Maddsys to pick up the pick-up as it had some football stuff in the boot to give to Brad, so I called into Macdees first and had a quick chat with Ash before picking up the pick-up.Got to the ground, and bought some Lucozade from Tesco before we all got changed and ready for the game. Had been looking forward to this game for quite some time, and we started brilliantly going 2 up in the first 15 minutes, and it could and maybe SHOULD have been more at half-time! Winty denied quite a decent penalty shout when almost clean through but the ref waved it away. Was gutted that John managed to sneak in at the back post and score, after they were given a dodgy penalty! Sami jumped up with his hand, but hit robs hand, who had palmed the ball over the bar! The ref gave it amid a mass of Cockle shouts! BRads match report is a little odd
It was good to get back into the swing of things on this spring-like sunday morning after 3 weeks since our last game.
The game ended with RandK disappointed but this was a very good result away to current league leaders.
RandK could’nt have asked for a better start as a long-ball over the top was flicked on by Winty for Bud to score after 3 minutes. 1-0.
RandK started to control the early exchanges without ever really getting out of 2nd gear and our second goal soon followed on the quarter of an hour mark, a brilliant ball by Sami sliced open the Cockle defence and Bud made sure with a near identical finish as the first goal. 2-0 and cruising.
Cockle were a danger from set-pieces as they have got some very tall lads that know how to head the ball but Rob was brilliant in the first half coming off his line to snuff out any danger.
Controversy struck just before half-time when we had a blatant penalty appeal turned down, a good through ball found Winty who beat his man before being bundled over just outside the 6 yard box, the ref waved play on insisting Winty took a dive, why would he dive when it was easier to score? the contact was minimum but there was contact, just enough to put our leading scorer off his balance. Shocking ref!
Bud floated in a free-kisk which missed everybody before striking the upright and rebounding to safety.
Half-time 2-0
We knew we’d be up against it in the second half as we were away from home and kicking uphill on a sloping pitch, but RandK were coping fine and defending really well, we even created a few chances of our own but Scotty, Bud and Winty could not put the finishing touches on the end of some great team moves.
Lady luck was shining on Cockle today in particular with only 25 minutes of the game left, a Cockle corner was floated in and a great header was placed towards the top corner, Sami stupidly jumped with his hand but Rob manged to tip the ball over the bar before the ball had chance to hit Sami, yet the ref deemed Sami to have handled the ball. answer me this Mr referee, if you was 100% sure Sami handled the ball, he had to get his marching orders surely? or a booking or at least a talking to, but none of these were done which indicates the ref buckled under the Cockles protests for the spotkick,Sami said at the time he felt it hit his hand but later confessed it could of been Robs hand hitting his as they both jumped and fell to the floor, Rob swears blind he tipped it over and even the Linesman tried to knock sense into the ref but the kick was awarded and the Cockle striker scored a well placed shot.
2-1 and the lifeline Cockle had been looking for.
Cockle came at us in the remaining minutes of the match but it was RandK who came closest to scoring the next goal, a precise ball through to Winty from Scotty was intercepted by a Cockle defender, with the defender blazing over the crossbar to stop a certain attampt on goal, Bud then beat his marker to put the ball across goal, with Winty looking to smash the ball home a great challenge again by the recovering Cockle defender cleared the ball out for a corner.
With just under 10 minutes left Cockle got the goal to equalise, a rash challenge by sub Willa not only earned him a yellow card but it gave the ball to Cockle in a dangerous posistion, the free-kick was hit into our box and after we had been defending so well, we left a Cockle player to powerfully head into our net. 2-2
Cockle will be pleased they got out of jail today and RandK will be left thinking ‘if only’. However this result will have hurt the Cockle more with teams around them looking to captalise on the form team of the league.
Even though RandK did not win today, a loss would of ended our slight chance of finishing top of this division, a draw although not great keeps us still in touching distance and with all the top teams yet to play each other. It is worth noting the Cockle have not lost in the league since the 2nd game of the season, so we must draw out the positives from this game. But from seeing them in action today they are definatly beatable and still have 2 crunch games against the other in-form team of the division, Innovate.
MOM – Bud -chosen by Brad. A great performance and deservedly finished with 2 goals today but i was also impressed with his willingness to pass the ball and look for a teammate in a better posistion. Well done pal
Goal summary:
3 min – Richard Waring (7/10)
A well delivered through-ball from Chris Wint was converted by Richard Waring. A fine finish with the left foot from 18 yards out.15 min – Richard Waring (7/10)
Converted from just inside the box with the left foot, Richard Waring finished off a great team goal. Sam Whyman claimed an assist.
Will post the Cockle report if they ever get round to writing one up this week
From dropping the pick-up off I called into the Cockle for a drink with John and his mates, and didnt get the warmest of receptions
Altho they soon changed their tune when they ehard we still had to play Jolly Friar twice this season! Got to my mum and dads and sorted out going to watch the Newcastle game over at our Malcs with him, Our Lew, Spid and one or two others. Poor Kel had sorted dinner out for half the lads who’d gone round to watch it, and Spid being the only Evertonian amongst a few Geordies and 2 lads who didnt really care about the score. Think we did well to battle our way to a draw after Kevin Nolan was sent off for a silly two footed tackle/stamp on Anichebe’s shin. Lovenkrands could even have won the game for us in the first half, but overall Everton were pretty dire without Arteta who limped off after only a few minutes and the little Aussie Tim Cahill. Got home and had a nice long soak in the bath before chilling out on the net with some Steven Segal film on in the background
Went to bed once that had finished and watched high Altitude on our Malcs reccomendation, and it was quite goo dtbf! To say it was on BBC 2 and normally the only decent thing they show on their is Top Gear
So here’s to another 4 day week HAHA!
