The joys of the Toon!
Been a while since I really wrote anything about my beloved Newcastle United, as I’m too gutted at the fact the club that was once challenging Man Utd for the Premier League title under Kevin Keegan, and finished 2nd a few times under Sir Bobby has dropped to such a level! I know it’s not our god given right to be in the top half challenging for Europe every year like Villa and Everton seem to be, but with the fan base we have, along with a ground like ours, we should have no problem attracting some decent players in! Our problem according to my mother, is we get young players in, like Jon Dahl Tomasson and Hugo Viana, and then expect wonderful things from them straight away, then let them go, where they seem to go on to better things like in Dahl Tomassons case, joining AC Milan and winning a few things (I think he won a few medals over there
) altho Viana just seemed to lose his way, having been touted as being better than Ronaldo back in their youth
Now it’s got better in this last week running up to the Tyne-Wear Derby! Firstly we lose Michael Owen to injury along with Barton both of whom have injuried keeping them out for a good few weeks, with Owens being undetermined till a scan and Barton fracturing a metatarsal in his right foot! Things just seem to get even better with long-time number 1 Shay Given handing in a transfer request according to the BBC Website, and Charlie N’Zogbia being insulted by Joke Kinnear in a recent post-match interview in the recent defeat to Man City at Eastlands
Charlie is believed to have said he will no longer play for the club under Joke Kinnear, after he called him “Insomnia” LINK. Slightly better news is the club actually trying to sign a player I’ve liked for quite a while! Seems Kevin Nolan is in toon having a medical at the moment, and I think he’s the sort of attacking midfielder we’ve lacked for ages! Lets hope that the players can stop the fucking rot against the unwashed from down the road! Steven Taylor has acknowledged that we’re in a relgation fight, and to be honest it’s only the players that can drag ourselves out of it! Having spoken to Mark earlier, he said Kinnears style of managing, basically ranting at your players, is too old school and dont work anymore, and thats all he seems to have to offer!

At least Mike Ashley has stayed on. Or last I heard, he had, anyway.
Keegan was – is – an icon at St James’s and I love him to bits, but he’s also a bit of a mardy girl when it comes to management.
There are (at least 3) worse clubs than Newcastle in the Premiership at the moment, but that doesn’t mean they’ll stay up…
Scary few weeks ahead.
VERY scary times ahead mate! The thought of a cold and wet December trip to Hillsborough and your lots stamping ground up the M1 a little dont fill me with much joy or anything
