The Royal Bank of 2s & 1s has gone bust.

So we’re in the midst of an economical meltdown, with Banks needing massive loans from the .gov and things.  Well it was a sad day yesterday, when the Royal Bank of 2′s and 1′s had to close its doors for the last time :(

This bank has stuck by me through thick and thin, and came about from a trip to Munich for Oktoberfest about 5 years ago now.  Me, Maddsy and John from work, accompanied with Ted and Johns mate Manuel went over.  I brought back this hefty bottle of Bavarian beer, and as nice as the contents were, I decided to put all my coppers and 5p’s in to the jar.  Over time someone *rollseyes* broke the neck of the jar, but it’s still been a worthy servant.  Anyway during the change over from weekly to monthly pay, money was a bit tight, so I counted almost £20 worth of change I’d accumulated over time, and so I decided to use that to buy the drinks, cos basically it was like a free £20  Not sure the vending machine people were too impressed lumping all the loose change around with them, but hey-ho HAHAHA.  It’s now down to about 27p which neither of the machines will accept, so I’m having to close this chapter of my life!!

Chernobyl visit/Call of Duty 4

Not by me don’t worry….

I was busy looking on one of the few forums I seem to frequent and I came across this thread about a tour of the Chernobyl Plant and surrounding areas.  For some reason it is something that I have a small interest in, so had a good look at the pictures.  Then when it showed you the neighbouring town of Pripyat that I felt a sudden case of Deja-vu.  Within seconds I realised some of the photos are from the Call Of Duty 4 game! As soon as I beckoned Crit over to have a look he was like “WTF I didn’t know the place actually existed” So we then did our Geeky things of looking at the pictures and talking through the mission on COD4

So heres my trip to Chernobyl in pictures.
The trip was booked with Chernobyl Tour – Ecological Tour to Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. I just emailed info@tourkiev.com, and got in touch with the guy who runs the whole place, Sergei. Really, really helpful guy who talked me through the whole process and answered numerous dumbass emails i sent him. You can book everything through them, from the flights (cost me about 500 euro) to hotel (160 euro for 2 nights), to a pickup at the airport and dropoff when leaving ($40 each).

Isn’t time flying!!

Seems I have not got all that much time lately to update my blog like I used to! Maybe it’s a case of being quite tired all the time and the fact that I sit at home, and make the cardinal sin of signing into msn and start chatting to people! This then means by the time I look at the clock the whole night has flown by me, and next thing I know I can’t keep my eyes open    This is quite a long post, as I have not updated for a while, so you may wanna go get a beverage of your choice and a few biscuits before you settle down to read this (If you want to that is  )

Anyway….

Wow I want a Glo Pillow!!

Whilst surfing I came across this wonderful little invention, and now think I’ve gotta have one! LINK How Cool is this!!

We all know that alarm clocks aren’t that effective. We just turn it off or snooze it then go back to sleep whenever we hear the alarm. Studies show that waking up by audio alarm just shocks your system and will leave you tired in the morning.

Regrets, I’ve had a few…

Now I know when my mother reads this she’ll no doubt get on that mobile of hers, search for Mikey and ring me  It’s the sort of thing she does.  Anyway reading about some of the University Initiations, and viewing the video below, has made me kinda regret not going to Uni.  Some of the people I know that have been have agreed that being part of a sports club or something is brilliant, like Meatball going all over with the Rugby Team and that.  If I had gone to Uni I dont think I’d have done what Bex did, and stayed off campus, and lived with me for 2 of her 3 years, I’d have moved away like Meatball did to Aberystwyth Uni or something :D   I do think I’ve missed out on some proper laughs, but in a way there is not much I’d change about how my life has panned out so far (apart from being nearly 30 and single  )  But you always find yourself thinking “What if” :) Video below taken from BBC website
