Seems I have not got all that much time lately to update my blog like I used to! Maybe it’s a case of being quite tired all the time and the fact that I sit at home, and make the cardinal sin of signing into msn and start chatting to people! This then means by the time I look at the clock the whole night has flown by me, and next thing I know I can’t keep my eyes open
This is quite a long post, as I have not updated for a while, so you may wanna go get a beverage of your choice and a few biscuits before you settle down to read this (If you want to that is
)
Anyway….
Friday dragged like hell, and due to needing to get up early saturday morning, I told Maddsy that I’d decided I was gonna leave work bout 4:30ish. Went and did the usual Friday night stuff… Football with John, Phil Teddy and some of the other lads, and then spent the night on msn chatting to Kirsty and a few others. Still get shouted at for not updating this as often as I should, but I suppose once there is a change in my life for the better I’ll have something to blog about
Got up at 5 and made my way over to Rainworth to go an pick our Stef up, who was helping me for the grand sum of £25!! The day didnt go by too badly Stef was asleep all the way there, and half of the way back, and I’ll admit to getting a little stressed out, due to the fact we’d got the 3 marquees set up in a line ready, and then we were told we had to move them as something else was going where one of the marquees was set up *rollseyes*. Managed to get everything set up by roughly half 9 and then we made our way back home, with Stef again asleep for most of the journey. Had a few hours to kill at home, so went on FM 08 for a bit, and then we made our way back up with Radio 5 Live on. Turned out to be a horrid day as a Newcastle fan! There seems to be no where to hide, and we were beaten by a crap Blackburn team
And from what some of the lads I speak to said, we just didnt turn up first half, and by that time we were 2-0 down! We always seemt o come to life once we’re a goal of 2 goals down!
By the time I’d dropped the can off at home, and almost killed myself in the car, which at the time felt like a go-kart compared to sitting high up in the Renault Traffic Van
the time was pushing 8pm so I dropped our Stef off at my mum and dads and made my way home. Started to watch a film on Sky Movies Premier, only to find myself in bed by 9pm!!
Thats where I stayed sound asleep until bout 9am sunday morning
Thats the longest I’ve managed to sleep for about 5 years
I wasn’t eligeble to play in the game on sunday, but I went down anyway, and it was a great game, and we showed a lot of character to snatch a goal back in the last few minutes, but It wasn’t to be as they managed to find the extra bit of fitness and broke more times than I care to remember, and could easily have had 9 or 10 but for last ditch tackles, good saves from Rob or shit finishing. But like the lads said after the game… on another day that would have been another point in the league
Just a shame that when warming up, Scotty decided to smash one at Fish (the keeper), who in turn broke his finger meaning he’s out for about 3 months
Another amusing thing was the ref expecting us to know who the hell he was. Aparrantely he took pride in the fact he played for Notts County, then Warnock didnt like his womanising ways, so sent him on loand to Mansfield. He then told us we may have seen him play for the stags in 1989 *yeah right like we’d remember that* and also asked if any of the pubs were still there, non of which have been called that or open for the last 10 years or more
The worlds greatest Sunday Morning Linesman… Mr Moore doing a grand job
Maddsy trying to look like he has a clue… Maddsy once again looking clueless
Nipped back to the pub with a few of the lads, and then headed off home to watch the Grand Prix, and then for some reason headed up to bed to watch Black Hawk Down expecting it to be about 9pm as it was already dark, to look at my phone when I got a text message to notice it was only 7:30
I am really getting old now folks! In bed by 9pm and 7.30pm on a Saturday and Sunday night
The next week was pretty boring really. No gym monday as John had to take a family member to the airport or something, and so that made Tuesday the chest session. I decided to brave it and add a bit more weight on to what I did the week before, and struggled to lift it at the start, but then found my rythym by the time the 3rd set came along
Wasn’t feeling upto the gym Wednesday night, so I cancelled. Got a text whilst I was asleep Tuesday night from Nic, who I’d not spoken to in a long time, so spent most of Wednesday morning texting her, and made preliminary plans to go and visit her over Chesterfield way, but nothing ever came of it
Friday at work we were having a bit of a mess about upstairs, now Mark has moved up, and for some reason he turned round and asked me what was wrong… As he’d noticed I was bulking up nicely, and now seem to have stopped!! GRRR Thats now given me the eye of the tiger ready for a winter or pushing it in the gym
Went to football Friday, and had a laugh as per usual. Had a chat with Phil after and we both laughed that we’re becoming more confident on the ball, and look willing to try and take more people on at footy. This is opposed to when I get the ball and am faced by John, Teddy, Smithy or Phil and I always look for the pass
Well no more! Time to be a bit more selfish HAHAHA!! Went to bed early Friday night in anticipation for getting up early for the last of the Manchester trips, but for some reason I couldnt sleep. I think it was due to the fact me and Wendy had been chatting earlier in the day about the weather forecast for that area on saturday, and how it was meant to be quite windy, and this made me worry a little about wether I’d manage to sort everything out ok
Was up at 5 again, and soon on my way to Manchester via a McDonalds stop for breakfast bout half past 5
Got upto Heywood in a decent time, and was sat around in the car park waiting for Jonathan to arrive. Once he got there he gave me a quick hand and then they started to set up as I was finishing, and all in all I was done by about 9:30. Rather pleased with myself I set off on a steady drive home, only to get a phone call 20 minutes down the road (just before the Pennines this time) asking if I could call back and sort the gutter out as it was leaking a little. Byt the time I’d waited around a bit to make sure everything else was ok I got home bout 1ish. Had a long soak in the bath and some dinner, before making my way back up there. Thats when I feared the worst! Just after filling up with Diesel at Woodhall Services, the van started making a rattling noise, and at first I thought it was a flat tyre, and thought thats all I fucking need. Pulled onto the hard shoulder, and jumped out the passenger side, and then checked all 4 tyres to find nothing wrong. Looked under the van, and saw some plastic that had come away from one of the screws, and so when going a certain speed the air was pushing it onto the floor! Rang Maddsy panicing and he just said to keep driving and it should wear it down enough not to panic, so I made my way back up. Got to Heywood bout 4:30ish and thats when the rain began. At first it was a little shower, but by the time Jonathan and the ladies had loaded all their stuff, it launched it down!! I was not happy, specially as my coat was wet through from taking the gutter off, and loads of water running down my sleeve, so I was there in just my jumper, piss wet through taking down the stuff.
Locations of the last few weekends work
Rang Wendy and had a bit of a rant and then made my way home. Got home bout 8ish, laid out the side panels in the factory to dry off, and then made my way over to my mum and dads, as they had Owen staying for the night, and the kid seemed hyper from the moment I walked through the door. He was taking loads of photos using my mum and dads mobile phones, and was playing a slight variation on an old kids game. But being our Owen he was saying “I say… My Eye… Beginning with… RED” to which we’d then have to guess which thing he was thinking about
Also we would guess something, he’d say no, guess a few other things, only to find it was the first thing we said, and he’d be giggling away to himself he he he! Got home and spent an hour or two watching a film whilst chatting to a few folks on msn.
Got up sunday ready for the big game against The Cockle. I was really hoping we’d get a result, as this is the team that John and some of his mates I know play for, along with Marc Massey and Adam Moloney (Who I know from our Titchfield days at the back end of the 90′s
I somehow knew it wouldn’t be my day atleast when Brad called me into the changing rooms, once I’d got shorts and socks on, and saidhe needed them as there was not enough. I kinda resigned myself to running the line instead
Running the line makes Wiggy very sad. Was a good game, and we showed great character to come back from 4-1 down to almost snatch it, and Winty had a few 1 on 1′s which their keeper did well to save, before Massey scored with a free-kick that wreecked of brilliance! He put it RIGHT in the top corner. I doubt many professional keepers would have saved it
Match Report from Our Site:
A disappointing defeat but at least we showed great character to come from 4-1 down to level.
With long-term injuries to Fish and Maddsy a re-shuffle was needed, Craig came in for his first start of the season on the left side of midfield with Greg dropping to left-back, Rob retain his place in the nets. We had 3 new signings on the bench today in Bud, Wiggy and Mark.
We started the game well and Scotty scored a good goal to put us 1-0 up. However after that we seemed to collapse and Cockle soon equalised. At 1-1 Scotty won a penalty, up stepped Bobby but his kick was too high and sailed over the bar, this seemed to spur Cockle on and just before half-time they got a second goal.
Half-time 1-2.
Bud came on for Craig at half-time.
We did’nt start the second half at all and found ourselves 4-1 down before we knew, Cockle also hit the bar in a bad spell for RandK FC.
Sami went off and was replaced by Mark, who went upfront with Scotty dropping to Right-midfield.
This seemed to get us going abit and we seemed to have more balance on the wings, Bud was causing problems for the cockle defence, and some good link-up play between Jock and himself led to Jock putting a ball into the box which was put into his own net by a Cockle defender. Jock was again provider for Marks debut goal and then Mark set-up Winty to score from close range. 4-4.
This set up a frantic final 10 minutes with Bud hitting the post and a goalmouth scramble led to Winty having his shot cleared off the line. But it was not meant to be and after dubious freekick decision, Cockle scored the goal of the game to win it at the death.
We had a really bad patch today, just before and after half-time, is where we lost it but we showed great spirit to get the scores back level after being 4-1 down.
MOM – Jock, as chosen by Col. Jock had his best game for the club and it showed with 3 assists. Well done pal.
Got home and text John that they were lucky to beat us, and the chilled out watching the football. Thought Newcastle were dire first half, but getting the goal just before half time, which it turns out Joe Kinnear missed as he was on his way to the changing rooms, helped us find a new level of confidence for the second half, which we could well have gone on and won!! With Joe missing the second goal which came about 2 minutes into the second half
Got chatting to a few folks on msn, and added one or two onto msn from this Friendzii application on Facebook, including Sandra, this great lass from Dublin way. Chatted to her about alsorts for most of the evening, and she was a really nice lass to get to know.
Last night at the gym I took it steady as I’d slightly sprained my wrist on saturday whenI dropped a 25kg base weight in the rain, but it didnt seem to give me too much agro, so looking forward to stepping it up again in the coming weeks, and try and start to bulk up again
Anyway I’ve gone on for far too long, but I’ll just add something I’ve just remembered about my trips across the Pennines…
There are some stupid ass mother fuckers who drive across there. On saturday it was raining, and there was a Clio Sport behind me, that close I couldnt see his lights in the side mirrors, and he was really impatient, and as soon as he saw the chance, he decided to boot it down the wrong side of the winding road, and nearly lost control of it twice, as he tried to overtake the best part of 10 cars
Anyway thats enough from me for now
