Peter Crouch, the Marmite of English football..

 Spotted the title on a BBC funny quotes page, so decided to steal it :D

Well it’s been a mixed weekend really. Friday night I wasn’t feeling too good, so spent most of the night on Call of Duty with some of the lads, before heading for bed bout 1ish! Thats the one problem with playing online! You start off innocently at about 6pm when you get back from work or something, have a few toilet stops, and before you know it… it’s gone 1am  Had a good laugh in there, so thats all that matters :D Including a game against some pretty clued up lads, who basically seem to have no life, and were level 10 Prestige! So basicallythese guys were AMAZING! Every kill was greeted with a “Whoop… GET IN” by our team  Tibbzy let Ryan have a go, and you could hear him in the background pissing himself, as a rather pissed ryan was getting killed at every opportunity

LOVE WILL TEAR US APART

Saw this coloumn on a Newcastle online fanzine, and it pretty much reflects how i feel about the club at the minute (they can obviously word it better

The situation at Newcastle United is without precedent in world football. Nowhere else and at at no other time has a body of supporters persisted in returning to a football stadium in such numbers and at such cost as we do currently. Nowhere. Never. Not Man Utd, Celtic, Rangers, Liverpool or any of the other alleged bastions of support in football. Not in Barcelona, Real Madrid – anywhere. Let no-one have one word of criticism for the Newcastle United support and certainly not the likes of Joey Barton, whose purpose at our club is what exactly?

But it cannot be expected to continue. Over the last decade we have finished more often in the bottom end of the table than the top and you don’t need me to tell you about our cup winning exploits. The current shambles of a football club cannot expect to be sustained by the hard-working people of Tyneside and beyond who are providing the cornerstone finance for the whole shooting match. If Ashley and Mort believe supporters will continue to turn up to watch their football club humiliated in the manner of Saturday night and drift further aimlessly then they are sadly mistaken. The club will always have its hardcore who will turn up to watch eleven NUFC shirts blowing on a washing line but there are others who have put up with too much for too long. Ashley and Mort should beware for it is a chill wind that is blowing down Barrack Road right now.

Not that I or any others expected Newcastle United to do anything on Saturday. I don’t know which is the sadder, the statement of grim recognition at our reduced status or the status itself. No-one is kidding anyone. We are on the shit. Relegation is not a fanciful prediction of the pessimists amongst our number, it is the reality. That we are not in a worse situation illustrates the paucity of quality beneath us. The lusty roars in my pre-match boozer when the scores came through that Portsmouth and West Ham had scored their winners against the SMB and Fulham illustrated perfectly our current mindset. We’re in a battle against relegation. Fucking hell, man!

The Man Utd game? Well, we knew we’d get nothing. Just like the trips to Arsenal. We knew we’d get nothing there either and I rather suspect there are those who have written off the trips to Portsmouth, Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham as well. Our games with Reading, Fulham and The Mackems have taken on a massive significance. If we don’t win those three games then the mood on Tyneside will blacken. Should we not win on Saturday at home to Blackburn then I believe huge questions will begin to be asked as to whether Ashley-Mort-Keegan have a clue about what they are doing. There are those already amongst our number who are questioning KK as some kind of marketing stunt rather than a serious football appointment. Again and again I am hearing proper, time-served Mags of the type that have never sent an insane text to The Comical or phoned up the daft bastards at Century to talk shite for 5 minutes, openly question bringing KK in as a replacement as manager and compare the decision to dismiss Allardyce at that point in the season to the worst of Shepherd’s manoeuvrings in the past. Those questions are a whisper at the moment but they are becoming louder.

We were humiliated by Man Utd. We know they are much better than us. In fact it is embarrassing to be honest that two teams with such a chasm in quality between them are even in the same division. But they don’t win every home game 6-0 or their aways 5-1. Teams go to Old Trafford and give a better account of themselves and are often undone by a moment of genius, a tired mistake or favourable refereeing decisions (that looked a good shout for a penalty for us when Owen was felled in the box and its now within the gift of Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand to bring incidents to the Referee’s attention that were not picked up by his assistant and have Faye booked) but Man Utd murdered us on Saturday night – 5-1 but it could have been a lot more and for long spells of that game they were playing well within themselves. It did not seem to matter to our players that we were conceding a fourth or a fifth goal. It was utterly shameful. It was cowardice. They are not fit to wear the shirt.

There has to be a big question asked about the character of the players on the pitch on Saturday night but also some of them who, we are told are “injured”. Not for the first time, in fact its a feature of this team that heads drop and we chuck it in. There is a lack of fight and there is a lack of professional pride. It looks like we have a load of bad heads at the club. Again.

As for the “injured” players. Well, frankly, there are those amongst our number who don’t believe certain players who aren’t in the first team picture maybe aren’t doing enough to earn their corn and are happy to pick up their fat contracts and have absolutely no commitment to our club. Players, Manager and coaches (do we bother with them any more?) should know, the supporters know more about what goes on in training grounds, treatment rooms etc than they might imagine.

You also have to question the coaching set up. I know its early days for KK but I looked at our bench last night and you know its just not right. We’re told Chris Hughton is on his way to takeover as first team coach but whether this alone can add to the know-how at the club remains to be seen. Too little, too late?

But all of this has been in the post for a long while. In many ways, the chief architect of our inexorable decline is out of the firing line. Freddie Shepherd was at our club for a decade as Chairman and the infrastructure is woeful. We have no youngsters coming through, the scouting set up, although being addressed, is a joke and we have a squad which is painfully small. The story is we have a small number of quality players but I’m sorry, who are they exactly? They are just names, players living on reputation who have done nothing for us. Fat and over-fed.

Under Shepherd, the club made one disastrous decision after another – managerial appointments, player purchases and inertia behind the scenes. Over the last two years, the club has barely strengthened and last year’s forays into the transfer market resembled more a re-arrangement of the deckchairs on the Titanic than serious team-building. Allardyce told us at the time he had misgivings about the players he was bringing in – particularly foreign defenders and Jesus, how right he was. Roeder’s team-building the year before was pitiful as well. Don’t get me on about Souness and Shepherd for whom much of our ills needs to be credited. Where we are now is the culmination of successive bouts of incompetence.

But Ashley and Mort need to take some responsibility also. Until there is serious money for team-building allied to the strategic work they are telling us they are undertaking then they will be vulnerable to the shit-stirring that they are carpet-baggers from London out to turn a quick coin. Although the players can’t be bought until the summer, the deals can be set up as of now. We need to know the preparation is going on now.

And of course the national press love it don’t they? If they can make a bad situation worse then the braying pack of hyenas will do so with relish. One thing is for certain, the press have us pencilled in as the club in crisis, the club to be destroyed and to be fair we’re making it easy for them.

Kevin Keegan wore the air of a man at breaking point in TV interviews after the Man Utd game and much as we respect the man for his integrity, his commitment for our club and his achievements, I’ll make no apologies for saying, Newcastle United comes first and it did not inspire confidence. Sadly, he resembled the forlorn figure we saw in the last days of his Man City tenure rather than the ebullient young manager whose teams played some of the best attacking football any of us have ever seen from NUFC. If this continues we are in the realms of a heartbreaking conclusion.

But KK is the man who has to lift these players ahead of Saturday. He is the man who has to influence certain players that its better to be out on the park giving everything for a football club that gives them so much rather than skulking in a treatment room nursing not very much in particular.

Nothing else but a win this Saturday. It really is make or break.

Keep On, Keepin’ On …

Is Dr. Evil a Lyon Fan?

Seems according to reports that Dr Evil is a fan of FC Lyonnais, after he was spotted pointing a “laser” at Ronaldo in the warm-up yesterday.  I was VERY gutted to hear that Tevez had come on and scored a goal with only a few minutes to go!! Was a shit game from what I saw, so I decided to watch the Arsenal vs AC Milan game! Much more entertainment, with shots flying in from either end! Adebayor hitting the bar from almost under the cross-bar with what was the 2nd to last kick of the game! Highly entertaining!

In other news today… Maddsy did his best “Fat Controller” impression this morning, whilst everyone else was running round unloading a container load of “Crap” from China! I’m beginning to think Mark gets emails with special offers for random things, and just goes for it  Sod worrying about where it’ll fit or anything!!  It can all go in the online shop that should be online in time for the next ice age i’m thinking

I wanted to go the Paranoids Anonymous meeting, but they wouldn’t tell me where it was

So! Not been upto a great deal since the weekend if i’m honest. Watched the latest episode of Prison Break last night, and I was kinda disapointed, so I did a bit of researching on the internet, and it turns our Episode 13 was the last one before the infamous writers strike over in America, and it appears that they tried to rush the final episode through, and in my eyes have missed off one or two endings to sub-plots within the program. (Not gonna write anything more about it, as some people I know aint seen it yet  )  Monday night after the gym I was beginning to feel really shitty, and only stayed on the xbox for about an hour or so, before heading upto bed shivering like hell.

Tuesday was not much better, and my nose felt like a tap :( And i didnt seem to have any energy what-so-ever.  After work I watched Prison Break, and then relaxed in a red hot bath for best part of an hour, before having 10 minutes on the xbox, but a distinct lack of batteries in my house, meant that when the ones in the controller ran out I was buggered    Went upto bed bout half 9, and found myself red hot, but shivering at the same time! Pretty crappy nights sleep again, with one minute sweating buckets, then next finding myself freezing outside the covers! I just couldnt seem to get comfy.

Of course the meek will inherit the earth, what, did you think they’d take it by force?

First of all WHAT A NIGHT saturday was!!!

Friday as a whole way pretty quiet, as Die Führer had the day off, as he was being gangbanged by some RAF boys or sommat  Went to play footy in the evening and had a blast in net for 20 minutes, and played a blinder, keeping a clean-sheet  altho when you’ve got Teddy and Tom on your team, you don’t tend to get many shots against you HAHA. After that I chilled out for the evening chatting to Tibbzy and Lee for a bit on t’old Xbox.

The one who says it cannot be done should never interrupt the one who is doing it.

So here’s a Thursday morning update on the week thats been so far :D

So from what I can remember Monday at work was ermmm a tad boring  Which mainly involved me printing up hundreds of Mini-Marquees envelopes ready for a mass mail-out in the next few days, as well as printing price lists. From work I nipped home, sorted a protein shake, got changed and headed over to the gym fror our monday chest session. We decided that we were REALLY gonna push it this time round, and I have reached my goals way ahead of schedule  I wanted to lift 2 plates each side since I joined, when I started on 1/2 a plate. Well Monday I managed to do one exercise without any help using 2 plates, but when it came to bench-pressing, I could manage 3 or 4, but had to have John spot me for the remaining 4, but I still did it, so I was a very happy bunny after that session, in which we both decided to enter unchartered territory, and lift more than we would normally.

Villa (a) Match Report

Yet another classic match report from the lads over at the True Faith bunker    I love reading these the day after a game, cos they some how manage to turn a shit result into something half amusing :D

Hebburn was not built in a day. Those pesky Jarrovians even hired Vikings to try and disturb the re-generation of the capital of the north east, to no avail. King Kev needs time to get to grips with our squad and sort out out the mess we have succumbed to. Don’t get me wrong, he can turn water in to Stella Artois by smiling at it and he can cure penguins of aids and other such diseases which stemmed due to monkeys having sex with trees by singing “head over heels in love” to them but he needs our patience in order for him to sort out the problems we currently have.

Once again, we put in a good shift in the 1st half and then failed to turn up for the 2nd half. Kit-Kats are supposed to be consumed at the break; perhaps that is where we are going wrong? Or perhaps that cretin who chants on those Halifax adverts is doing Karaoke in our dressing room during the interval and is bemusing our players. I’d put Harry Hill’s T.V Burp (best programme on the box) on during the 15 minutes if I was in charge to entertain the players (FIGHT!), hence the reason I am not in charge.

Owen got on the end of a swirling in-swinging Milner cross to nod us in front after 4 minutes, similar to his goal against The Beasts last week. We played some decent stuff and we comfortably dealt with anything Villa had to offer in the 1st 45 minutes and our backline looked solid and resolute. They only really had 1 half chance when Carew glanced a header which Shay easily parried to safety………..and then came the 2nd half.

Idiotic defending led to their Edward Woodward; both Carr and Duff dallied about like a cat wearing slippers which led to them regaining possession and the ball eventually fell to Bouma whose shot from the edge of the box deflected off Sunday, Monday Habib Beye and deceived Shay to nestle in to the corner. The game was completely turned on its head (although I can’t recall seeing it on its feet mind) 2 minutes later when John Carew flicked Young’s corner in via his large shiny bonce. Carr was supposed to be on the post but moved away from it, presumably because it had farted. Shay departed with an injury and was replaced by Harper who immediately made 2 cracking saves to thwart Gardener. After conceding, we capitulate with more ease than that donkey off that “Buckaroo” board game after 1 too many items have been inserted on to it. In fact, the king of origami could not fold as easily as we do. Carew headed in his 2nd on 72 minutes after some textbook “Carry On Defending” from our back-line as the ball pinged about in our box like a pinball machine having a fit. Carr ended the 2nd half in style by needlessly punching the ball in our box and Carew converted the resulting spot kick to seal (or is it Adamski?) his 1st hat trick in English football in the last minute.

We have now conceded an astonishing 12 goals in the 2nd halves of our last 3 away matches and the run of fixtures coming up suggests we might be in that brown substance which elephants gleefully drop off on their way to the shops. Sleeves need to be rolled up and taches need to be trimmed as we are in a battle for survival. Gloria Gaynor survived and I know fine well we will under King Kev – keep the faith.

If you eat a live frog in the morning, nothing worse will happen to either of you for the rest of the day.

Hmmm so I think i have a new addiction  No I will not be joining Pete Doherty or Amy Winehouse in going into recovery for drug addictions… Nor will I be joining Bagi in being addicted to Beer or his latest addiction which is killing himself on a sunday morning playing football  (The hypercondirac that he is HAHA) My new addiction seems to be online gaming  Not helped by one or two other mates who appear to have a similiar addiction *cough* Tibbzy, Lee Westwood, G and D *cough* Not sure why I didnt start playing online sooner, altho there are times when you do wonder about the mentality of some of the people who play online! Mainly the Americans, who seem to take it Oh so seriously. Played one game this weekend, and cos I was one of the weakest ranked players, I got a message of one such american, who told me to get off the server, and they were talking over the headset telling me to fuck off and that! God knows how I ended up on their team, when I was in the same party as Tibbzy and G, so normally would be put on the same team :? It is a great way to chat to your mates, and have a laugh and things :D … Plus chatting to Nic, she said she now knows where he is 99% of the time when they aint together… either cleaning his car, or on xbox live HAHAHA
