About time…
Sometimes it’s hard being a Newcastle fan! When in recent history one of the only things we’re remembered for is losing a 13 point lead at the top of the premiership to Man United, and Kevin Keegan going on a ranting and raving mission
We were known as the entertainers round them times, and to be honest not many teams have come close to our cavalier football! Where we went out every week thinking you score 4 we’ll get 5! And with what was 2 the best striker partnerships around at the time.. Beardsley and Cole, and Shearer and Ferdinand we should have won something! No the big man has retired, we’ve got Martins and Owen, when fit!
Anyhow… After 30 long days of wondering wether or not we’d get a new player in….
GLENN Roeder says that new loan signing Oguchi Onyewu has 12 games to earn a permanent move to St.James’ Park.
The 6ft 4ins centre-back arrived on loan until the end of the season on Tuesday and goes into the United squad for Saturday’s trip to Fulham.
Gooch, who will wear squad number 15, is unavailable for United’s UEFA Cup campaign having played for Standard in the early rounds of the competition.
But Roeder says he would be delighted if the towering defender can win over coaches and fans alike during the Magpies’ final 12 Premiership fixtures.
The United boss said: “Oguchi has 12 games now to make a big enough impression here to earn a permanent move and I certainly hope that is the case.
“He comes across as an impressive person and he is certainly physically impressive.
“He is the type of player we need and both myself and Nigel Pearson have watched him a few times.
“Nigel had a look at him while he was at West Brom but I think he wanted to hold out for a move to a bigger club.
“He gained a lot of experience at the World Cup and I am delighted to have him.
“He is very fit at the moment and will be in the squad for Saturday against Fulham.”

Born in Washington DC in May 1982, Onyewu moved to Europe in 2002 to sign for FC Metz of France.
In 2003, he was loaned to La Louviere of Belgium and then to Standard Liege a year later, making that move a permanent one for the 2004/05 season.
Onyewu made his international debut for the USA against Panama on October 13, 2004 and he represented his country at the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany.
He has previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Inter Milan plus Premiership outfits Chelsea, Manchester United, Middlesbrough and Fulham.
Most recently he has been linked with a move to Marseille.
In 2006 he was voted the US Soccer Athlete of the Year, the first defender to win the award since Alexi Lalas in 1995.
We finally have a player! YAY!!! And he’s also chasing a Striker, altho he’s got untill midnight tonight to find one! wonder if Chelsea will loan out Drogba hmmmmm
I do enjoy keeping my eye on the transfers on the last day of the window! It’s normally chaos, and i can imagine the FA getting loads of people in off the street to keep running up and down stairs with faxes of players registrations and that
